In 2005, some 645,000 illegal aliens were estimated to live in New York. Education represents the largest single component of New York’s illegal alien fiscal liability about $4.3 billion a year. Statewide, FAIR estimates about 120,000 children are in the country illegally and an additional 225,000 are children born here to illegal aliens. Combined, these students represent 11.7 percent of public school kids. Publicly funded health care for illegal aliens costs the state about $690 million a year, while illegal aliens in state prisons drain another $165 million from state coffers. The typical native-headed household in New York pays an estimated $874 a year in taxes to cover the costs of just these three programs, concludes the report. “These latest estimates of the costs of illegal immigration tell a lot about what is happening in the state and indicate what lies in store for the country as a whole if this nation does not get serious about controlling illegal immigration,†said Dan Stein, president of FAIR. “The New York City area has been steadily losing its middle class for decades, as high costs, high taxes, failing schools and other factors have forced middle income families to move elsewhere. lmao...I think the majority of my stories are moderate and reasonable. I don't think of moderate when I think of Anthony. The problem I have with that sort of rule is that it makes anti-rhetoric the prodominate issue of this forum. I don't know how many anti Christian, Muslim, Jew, Republican, Democrat, etc, etc threads I have to go-through to actually read an opinion that's somewhat rational. As I said before, contraversy is the lowest common demoninator and while you can't always avoid it, it shouldn't be the only subject to focus on in any forum. That's why I post on diverse issues with just as much importance as any other. I don't expect that everyone be as interested, but any sane person out there doesn't focus his time on only one thing. I guess I'll have to follow the rule, but I don't agree with it. Circumstantially I could understand when someone just floods a forum with news...but I think 2-3 stories every day doesn't hurt but help the sanity of this forum. A saw a documentary on them as well. Very interesting. In El Salvador the literally make areas of town unliveable (with little or no investment), and they virtually own the prisons they live in. It's not like here, where jail to jail the policies may be a lot stricter. I would suspect a lot of them want to come here, as much of their family is here as well; but personally I can do without more gang members. I don't know how many times I've nearly been in deep shit just because of colors or stupid shit. My friend once said, 'it's not a matter of the numbers that come, but it's a matter that the worst of them is coming.' I'm not sure I agree with that, but I know the jail rate of illegals is fairly significant. I'm hoping latin america's economy expands quick enough to relax the numbers coming-in. Immigrations a good thing, but all good things must be done in moderation.
