How would you know if it's already in the sandbox or not...is there any tool to actually determine or locate the sandbox? Who's smarter?

What would you name those sites, which are far behind in SERPs say on 7-8-9 page. All of them are sandboxed.
I thought sandbox term is used for only newly listed sites in google. So that those sites can be verified for their authenticity/content etc.

The real answer is to build a makeshift site about two years before the real one. Tried, tested, works.

There is absolutely a sand box because you can't rank high within a week a site's launch. However, there are some simple ways to get out quickly which I have been able to do for a site competing for the competitive equivalent of "cheap insurance". I was able to rank on the first page within 4 months, which is good all things considered.

My underlying philosophy has been that the Google engineers are a million times smarter than me. Therefore, I don't try to find ways to cut corners because I assume they'll catch me. So how does one do SEO without cutting corners?

    1) Build relevant content and tools for the user. I constantly get compliments on my site from our visitors and coincidentally I'm ranking really high for all of my target keywords. The whole concept of "building good content will get you links" is not true in some industries and certainly isn't in mine. This being the case, how is it that I'm ranking high? To reiterate, the Google engineers are really smart. I have no idea how they could possibily account for what makes a website useful for its visitors, but I have full faith that they have figured out at least a portion of this equation.

    2) Promote your site to get visitors to your site. Links from social bookmarking sites, article directories, and press releases are totally legitimate when you are a new site. High PR links probably are not. Stay away from high PR links for the first several months until you are very confident that your site is trusted.

    3) Build inner links. Home pages rarely have useful information, so don't link there unless you have to. I think this is the most understated part of SEO.

Sorry if this is jumbled or if I'm getting big for my britches by posting such a long ramble when I'm new to the forum, but these are my thoughts.

Sandbox, or just pen to a new site exist! This is exactly true. Too many examples of the new site with a lot of unique and relevant content, but you will not find it in Google serps ...

I'll have to respectfully disagree with the thread starter, the "sandbox" does exist, though it may not be called that officially within Google. At any rate, it's basically when the site should rank well for keywords but doesn't because of a trust issue. Mostly plagues new websites, and can be caused by many things. Might hit some sites, might not hit others.

lol @ everyone saying patience is the key.

Patience unfortunately doesn't bring results here, only action.

The reason why you can't rank high within a week is just because your site is new and less page are already indexed compared to old site that more of their page are already indexed. The more pages was indexed the more keywords was crawled. Another one is, there are millions of competitors that already been in the list of cached sites. The more the cached pages the better searching for your keyword.

When Google tells me a Sandbox exists I will believe it. Until then it's simply their algorithm.
