    Hi,

I was infracted for stating in an ebook thread that I would take a review copy. However, after visiting the forum again I see no thread stating that this is not allowed.

    Please advise.

The infraction may have been for “Bumping Threads” you don’t need to post “I would take a review” If the OP didn’t offer a free review then that could be the reason for the infraction.

You should have the reason within your settings.

    Thanks Brian

Won't it be good to have a new sticky in eBook section? Specially telling about this rule so people do not ask that.

I kindly request that a sticky be made in the eBook forum about review copies. I think the moderators are having quite a fun time hanging out in that section and sending out infractions. Save your man power, make a sticky that says asking for a review copy in the thread is not allowed. EVEN If the OP says he is giving them out!

The OP stated that reviews were available so I posted in the thread asking for me. I was not really bumping the thread since he had just posted the thread.

Maybe if you took 10 mins out of your time and actually read the FAQ/rules that you aggreeded to when you signed up, you would have seen that posting replies like that are not allowed.

Nothing listed in the thread you provided that says requesting a review when a review has been offered is not allowed. This rule is listed in an entirely different area.

Since you may come back at me with "But does that add value to the thread?" my response would be "Yes, it does. It lets the users become aware that review copies have already been requested, thus saving their effort of requesting a review copy when they have all been taken/requested".

I don't think the posting above was sincere or professional.

"I'm interested" falls under the review copy category, you are right you shouldn't have been infracted you actually should have received a 7 day ban. Also if you read the FAQ/Rules again you will also see that you will receive an infraction for complaining about an infraction.

    FroobTheNoob,

I am not complaining about my infraction. I was simply using this thread to request information on why asking for reviews wasn't allowed since I could not find it stated in the rules thread. I'm suggesting more clarity with the rules in the eBooks forum since it seems like a war-zone in there.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

The guy Furca makes perfect sense dude! Infractions might not mean a thing to the mods as they have control over it, but for us it is all about reputation. One can't possibly read the whole forum, or even all sticky's just to make one small request.
