Hmmm i bad an 20$ yesterday as a test
and it was approved in less then a few hours... but i will have to wait till 11/11 to be put on my card.

Whe you receive money from a partner, you can get them in 4 hours for 5$ or in ~ 5 days for 2$

i hope to not be wrong...

you know i am thinking to replace ikobo with my own payment system...

Heh my reciever needs to move to Moldova then. For me to send $885 to Czech Republic, Western Union's fee is $88. Ikobo's fee was only $32. And on top of that, WU uses their own exchange rate that is much lower than the actual rate so she will get 2000 koruna less and I will spend more for the same amount. I had no fee from my credit card using Ikobo, but using WU I have an exchange fee. Plus my cash advance apr is way higher then my purchases apr on my credit card. That was one great thing using Ikobo; my credit card didn't treat it as a cash advance like they do WU, so there was no extra charges. So for me, WU is way way more expensive.

I think PayPal is my only other option at this point. She'll just have to suck it up and wait 3-5 days now.

hi all, I'm sad to see ikobo go to. I used it for a couple of years to send money to a relative.

I'm now searching for an alternative.

one of the first sites I've found is duales.com

    anyone have experience using them?

    ikobo is/was legit...

ikobo folks , check your email, looks like ...
As of November 7, 2008, Global Bank of Commerce, the issuer of your iKobo Visa Prepaid card, will assume all management of your card services and will be your sole contact of information regarding your iKobo accounts. The company, iKobo, Inc, will no longer be part of your experience.

During the last few days, you may have experienced a temporary interruption in your ability to send money. There is no interruption, however, in your ability to access any funds held on the card. The iKobo card that you currently hold will be supported by Global Bank of Commerce and you may continue to access the funds held on the card via ATM or Point-of-Sale merchant that accepts Visa debit cards. However, some changes will come into effect regarding the ways to contact customer service, and the card loading options.

Global Bank of Commerce will be notifying you on how these changes will improve the Ikobo service to better serve your money transfer needs going forward. The bank expects that your ability to send money will be restored within the next two weeks.

Thank you for trusting iKobo and Global Bank of Commerce for all of your money transfer needs.

How do you know this? Are you related to Mr. Ikobo? LOL I'm looking at other solutions for myself and I can share any good ones that I find - PM me what country you are in and how you were using Ikobo I will see if I will let you know if I can find a solution that could work for you as well. Good luck! I hope ikobo comes back as you said ...

no relation to ikobo. if you were using ikobo you should be getting the same email.

I should of pasted that as a "quote"

anyways, I was sending money from US to Brazil, over the many years I've been using ikobo I have probably sent upwards of 20k $us... (@5k a year)
hardly ever a problem. I was using a service by yahoo/hbc before..
but when that was canceled, I found ikobo.

I had used western union for awhile, but at some point many years ago, they did not allow sending money from California to Brazil. plus their online web site sucked.

I came across this thread when I was looking for a reason why ikobo was not
allowing me to send anything.. luckily the last time I used ikobo on 10-22, the recipient withdrew all the funds from their card without a problem.

I'm a little hesitant to begin trying yet another new service until I know for sure ikobo or whatever it will be in the near future is really gone.

though maybe duales.com can become my replacement for ikobo..
I need to research it a bit more..

i sent them tens of emails and tried getting in touch with them on multiple occasions to figure out why my account was suspended with money in it, even though i've sent all the ID/scans/whatever they were requesting thru the site.

    never got any reply.

I got this mail 2 days ago and don't even know whats going on with them. I mailed them to know if it was my fault or they are just closing down but still no reply from them. Also I can't even login to my account to check balance etc.

Can anyone tell me what is the problem? Is it only me or other iKobo users also received the same mail?

I tried to transfer money to Ukraine.
After multiple steps iKobo collected all my info: 1.bank account, 2. copy of driver's license, 3. copy of bank statement, 4. copy of utility bill, 5. bank account confirmation - account was closed "by high security reason". I spend more than 6 hours on the phone with customer service, bunch of emails with security department and did not received any reasonable explanation. Now iKobo has all info about my account and could use it for non-appropriate purposes. I have to call my bank and made restriction for any transfer by iKobo. If you want to keep your money save - avoid having any deal with iKobo!

    We had the same experience,

When we wanted to provide cash transfer to our clients, where, from Paypal, or other sources into OUr MDCC product, PayPal>>CAsh, then tried IKOBO.

Its a shit, But We found where the client can get money into his NORMAL ATM/DEBIT CARD just free of cost. no need to buy prepaid cards like rubbish.

    do not touch ikobo

    thnx
