I had a website in LA a few years ago and most of the traffic came from Yahoo, i dont knoe why.

Recently i made a similar website for NYC (but original text of course) and yahoo totally ignores our site.
    Can you give some advice?

Unless you're talking about some sort of "local search", the city has little
    to do with your ranking.

    You need relevant links.

Pretty much what Bompa said. Use keywords related to whatever your site is all about.

If you are targeting the Google.com engine, the cities would make no difference.

You need to perform SEO on your site. Just because you built a similar website does not mean that you'll get the same results.
It is possible that your other website was mentioned on other sites and that's how traffic picked up.
You need to promote your site, and get backlinks.
    Best of luck.

Add the new site to your Yahoo Site Explorer account and submit a sitemap. If the site has an RSS feed, submit that is as well. Yahoo site explorer and the tools that it offers is often over looked. Make sure you utilize all of the resources that yahoo offers.

Create a Yahoo Blog Log account and add your site to that as well. Dont forget to submit your RSS feed to your Blog Log.

Many marketers focus on Google but forget Yahoo, however it can provide alot of traffic - I agree with other replies submit a sitemap and build some links. I am finding with my site it is currently going up in Google and down in Yahoo as I build links - strange!
