Ignore SEO and focus on content building

I recently read a basic guide to SEO written by Google themselves.

The basic premise being that content is king (as we already know) and that links are also beneficial (although there are exceptions).

Rather than spend time trying to lure links to your site would it not be better off to simply add new content to your site instead ??

Taking that one step further, why not ignore SEO altogether and just work on making your website as content rich as you can make it ?

It sounds like a perfect strategy....in a dream world. Any website that uses this strategy would have to wait much longer to get traffic and rankings. You need a very, very good website to attract many natural backlinks. Even then, those backlinks wouldn't have the best link anchor text. I would not recommend this strategy for the average website.

When you think about it, any form of SEO is an intentional attempt to manipulate the search engine results. Google views SEO this way too, and they don't want you trying to artificially change how your site ranks with the search engine by configuring your site accordingly, so they use scare tactics by telling you how you "should" build and manage your site for optimum results. SEO will always be around in some form, and to ignore SEO and just focus strictly on content is a bad tactic.

I say "build you own SEO". Content+ content + content + different who is data @ different servers = relevant links.

    Now who told you that????

Google loves SEOs because they do make sites better, for example many sites use a sitewide header file with one title tag and meta description for 100s of pages, which does nobody any good, not the user, nor the search engines.

Whenever you think of Google let this one word fill your thoughts

    propaganda

Not only is Google the largest search engine,....they are one of the largest propaganda engines as well

    Google = Propaganda

    :D

When I started my website five years ago I had what I think was/is good content. I kept adding good content.

Then I learned a few things about SEO — linkbuilding and more — and applied them, and the traffic began to shoot upwards.

In sum ... good content from the outset, but traffic began to come after I began applying white-hat SEO principles.

To be honest is the combination of every thing, a fine balance between both user friendly, content, creativity, seo, links.

I am not sure for the time being, but in future sites which uses google analytics with high bounce rate are more likely to be loose ranking. any body agrees with this?

Sorry but I strongly doubt they would impose any kind of ranking drop only to websites that use Google Analytics. Google is not stupid enough to screw over their own customers...well most of the time anyway. Also a high bounce rate may not necessarily be a bad thing. If a website page has exactly what the person is looking for, they might not have any reason to click into that website. Certain niches may get higher bounce rates due to people doing price comparison too.

Choosing to focus only on your content and ignoring on page SEO and link building would be the same as creating a restaurant that you located at your house where you wrapped the food in a brown paper bag then set it outside on the porch and hoped everyone would notice that the food was good. SEO and link building are marketing. It should be a part of everyone's online business. Of course your content should be your main focus. But marketing (which includes SEO and link building) should be your second priority.

Actually after doing SEO for sometime now it is not something that should be a part of everyones business. I can think of quite a few lead generation niches where SEO is useless.

Consumer Intent comes first - Proper ways to advertise a site to follow....

I recommend, that you start building content first. Once the content is on a ready, start looking at ways to optimize your site that you are indexed quickly, and that everyone can come to your site (visibility) without any hassle. Work on a nice template that is SEO friendly. That would do the trick!

This strategy is known as the 'build it and they will come' strategy.

    It works in the movies.
