where to get IFSC code for banks in India? I found this website (indian-banks.info) pretty helpful but is there anywhere else i could get these code officially online (say from bank itself)

i will go to my bank (sbi) tomorrow to ask them about this. I heard that people in banks are so dumb and they are not aware of neft or ifsc codes. Need some suggestions here!

usually IFSC code is your bank's short name 000 and first four digit of your account no.!
like mine is ICICI so it will be ICIC0000209 :) (same format as above)
yours will be SBIN000**** ( * being your first 4 digit of your a/c no.)

hope it clears and your right if you call SBI's customer service they wouldn't even know IFSC and even if they know it will take long proces :p :D govt. bank

You can find most of the banks IFSC code on their cheque books. Check your bank's cheque book leaves properly.

Actually i am not taking any changes with branch code or account number variations. We are not bankers and possibly if the ifsc code is wrong the payment will be returned. I believe only your bank will tell you the correct ifsc code.

Here is one More useful link for IFSC Codes.

Download the excel sheet and you will come to see the IFSC codes of all the banks. Use "Auto Filter" option of Excel sheet to filter it to your bank/area

    Here is the link http://paisamechanic.blogspot.com/2008/12/ifsc-codes-of-indian-banks.html
