Hey guys/girls? I got a situation where I have persons who would like to exchange with such a thing as banners on site wide basis. I don't mind if they link to me this way but I definatelly don't wana let my links back to them from all my pages. I was thinking about using IFRAMES as many sites does so. What are chances that it hides the link from engines or how engines would treat that? p.s. they don't know a thing about SEO
Iframes have been quite successful for me in eliminating content I do NOT want indexed with that particular page. This keeps the content on target, and can greatly reduce duplication within your own site. (Zokiii's suggestion will accomplish the same purpose, depending on your prefences and skills). Yes, links to iframes are followed by google and treated as a link to another page on your site...but this will remove the unwanted content by at least a level, and separate it from your main page. If you are exchanging links you need to be honest about how you will be linking, and find out what are their goals. If they want the link purely for traffic, they will not care so much how it is formatted into your page.
Their goals are just BANNERS they don't know what is backlinks, seo, and pagerank, so this is fair enough; I would go with rel=nofollow but it's just for google :> my skills? well, 10 years in programing
Sounds like a plan to me. (you've got me beat on the skills part too!). Best of luck to you...come back and let me know any interesting/unintended results, especially if you go with the iframes...seems they are shunned by many with more experience than me, but i've had success so far when using them with a purpose.
