If you're going to have infractions...

    ... you should make em mean something.
    IMHO, to make the most of the whole infractions thing, Shawn should come up with a new mod, the Annoyance Mod, aka The Evil Admin Mod.

    With it, infractions cause the following penalties, depending on how many you have:

    1) Random logouts. Can occur anywhere, but for heavy penalties would usually occur between hitting the Reply button and the Submit... the longer the thread the likelier the logout.
    2) Random URLs in the thread links. Sure, it SAYS page 2, but that was short for going to a different topic altogether.
    3) Random word censor. Somewhere between 10 - 25% of all words in your posts get replaced by *******.
    4) Take the Private OUT of PM's... they do go to the intended recipient, and an unknown thread as well.
    5) Reverse Spell Check - similar to #3, but merely de-corrects your spelling. This would be harder to spot.
    6) Age Limiter - without warning suddenly you can't see any threads newer than 6 months old. Anyone who actually replies to an old thread thinking it's new gets another infraction.
    7) Random Fake Infractions - they don't actually make anything worse, unless you bitch and moan about them, then they become real.
    8) 50-50 chance that the Edit button is indistinguishable from the Delete button.

    Whatcha think?

    Maybe you can create a DP store, and make people spend money to get rid of infractions, and then you can hold people hostage at random, and add more fun to the day. :)

    Bah, I like mine better, more involved, more like pranks whereas theirs is more like bullying :p

    Now THAT is a good idea. :)

    Btw, Shawn, if you did do something like this, my suggestion would be to not announce it until it's been in place for like a month. :)

    No thanks, it's already hell trying to get people to pay attention and listen to me, let alone browse the forums without slow loading speeds or errors. ^^;

    King EGS already has 8 infractions.. ^^;

    Can we give infractions to moderators or admin too? :)

    I'm trying the reputation system on my forum at www.dance-forums.com
    If it works well, maybe I will start using infractions later on.
