if your sites traffic is 90% referred traffic, is that bad for adsense?

i know that organic searches are best when it comes to adsense, but how does referring traffic rate? does referred traffic have a negative impact on a sites ranking in googles index?

The referred traffic is good traffic not bad traffic. Of course, presuming that these visitors are really interested in your content (that they did not reach your site to the way of spam)

As long as the referring traffic came from the same niche, i think this is still good same as the organic traffic.

Agreed. If the visitors are interested in your niche, it is targeted and as good as the ones from search engines... :)

    Nice thread hijack.

OP: If the traffic is original and unsolicited, should be no problem.

It depends how the traffic is getting to your site, if they are coming because somebody other than you linked to your content, then it is better than SERP traffic.

Referred traffic is not a bad one but the referred traffic should not come only from social networking sites like Orkut, myspace etc... I am not sure but I read a thread related to this some days before in this DP.

lets say i created a tutorials and posted them in threads that deal with the tutorial content, that is much better if a visitor follows that way vs finding a link in a unrelated thread?

I have my traffic 60% from google, 30% referred by forums, social bokkmarks, and others, and 10% returning visitors due to bookmarks... I don't see anyproblem with referred traffic as slong at it is not paid traffic through email or any massive campign.

As long as the source of traffic is legit, it is ok. The safest traffic however is from search engines.
