If Your Budget Ceiling Is $1/100 Words, Maybe You Aren't Going To Find A Quality Writer After All...

I want to put this out on the forum straight up - not as a part of my sales pitch, not as an extension of another person's thread.

If you expect quality, native writing at $1/100 words, you are stark, raving crazy and you're never going to be satisfied. That's as simple as it gets.

I have the Writer's Market 2012. I've secured jobs at 2.5 and 3 cents per word as a top-notch quality writer among natives even here on DP. I've seen the rates of 10 to 25 cents per word listed in the Writer's Market and I want to promise all of you wide-eyed, ESL speakers that your writing would offend the publishers at said publications.

It is an atrocious LIE what you arbitrate between clients and posts, ESL students. You have no place wielding my sword of language. It cuts both ways and every time you lift my hilt, you find yourselves scythed by the razor-sharp prejudices of truth and education. It is NOT MY FAULT that I've been trained in my language for well over twenty years. It is NOT MY FAULT that I am skilled at using my language at sales, persuasion and suggestion beyond what you are familiar with - I AM a native speaker, and I DO have over TWO decades of education in my native language.

If you are an editor or if you are looking for cheap services via DP for content creation, I encourage you to save a few bucks, come back and actually get quality content for your money. Indians paying Indians is a great concept for internal monetization, however, the reality is that you're getting ESL content for a rupee budget.

If you're here from the US or UK... and you're looking for the best in quality content... Please don't expect the $1/100 words you see from "natives" here to be your "average" price range. Actual writers will charge what they're worth. http://www.writersmarket.com/assets/pdf/How_Much_Should_I_Charge.pdf

DP is supposed to be a friendly forum where good rates are offered for friendly members. It is NOT supposed to be a forum where slave wages are paid for FAILING grade articles and content. I know what failing and passing looks like; I've passed every year of my publicly educated and privately paid-for life.

Have YOU passed every year? Couldn't you afford someone who has? If you're not from an English-as-a-Primary-Language country, what right do you dare impose upon me that I am underpaid in comparison to you? Where do I get off as a secondary learner of Hindi translating texts at competitive prices for your constituents in India?

    That's what I thought.

Long story short, I don't think that true English writers are ever going to accept rates that ESL students or "experienced" writers from India offer. We are the core. The crew. The native, natural and indigenous people to our language and our culture. We will not be under bought and we will not accept no for an answer.

As long as you keep saying $1/100 words, we'll keep spitting in your face and calling you "dog-eaters".

F*** you, cheap skates. You're dealing with Sparta and you're preaching MIGHTY close to the well.

totally agree with your opinion, i think writing quality content needs more cultural and believes approaches, for example when i need an article for American audience i should hire someone who has the same approaches and belives.

Why be angry with cheap clients? I'm honestly glad those people exist and do you want to know why?

When people like that exist, we know exactly who to avoid as quality content writers. We know who to not waste our time or effort on and let the people who don't produce the same level of quality attempt to tackle their ridiculous standards for their price.

On the other hand: If someone wants me to write for $1.00 and is completely understanding of me just slamming random letters on the keyboard until 500 words shows up, then I will gladly accept your job.

Cheap people need to exist so that people who don't want wish to work that type of clientele know exactly who to avoid.

I understand completely what you're saying, I've been having this conversation with people for the past five years. However, as someone pointed out to me, there is a market for those writers, which of course, consists of those clients who want to buy a truckload of writing for less than the price of a cup of coffee.

Try to think of them as a dollar store. The level that you are at is Tiffany's. Two totally different price ranges and demographic. Let them have each other and leave the clients who pay fairly for you. They're out there. (but they may not be in here)
