Hello, I recently got back into computers and would like to start a project developing an E-Magazine/(hopefully someday a published magazine) for product that is not released till 2020. It is time to start building a fanbase. How would you go about it? Any advice is appreciated. So far I am planning on a discussion forum News Releases RSS feeds Posting content and photoshopped images that are speculation.
Hello fellow aspired publisher! I actually intend to publish my own e-magazine when the due time comes. Can't tell you "what to do exactly", as I am pretty much in the planning stage myself. But I shall share what I have planned out and done so far. 1) Business study Who are your target audience? Is it a viable business? How much do you have to shell out for content production and marketing? How much revenue can you make? Short term business plan? Long term business plan? Exit plan? 2) Ground works For an e-magazine to be well established, you need to have : 2.1) A legit website 2.2) A registered company 2.3) A team 2.4) Social Media Presence 2.5) Connections 3) Sources of income Because businesses run on money, and we want more income then expenditures. Don't just stop at e-magazine - it's suicidal. 3.1) e-magazine sales 3.2) affiliates sales 3.3) advertising 3.4) other goodies - printed goods, special editions, etc... 4) Team 4.1) Writers 4.2) Photographers? 4.3) Designers 4.4) Marketers 4.5) In later stages - legal consultants 4.6) Freelancers - to supplement insufficient resources 5) Timeline 5.1) Monthly, bi-monthly, or periodic magazine? 5.2) Can the content team churn out sufficient content to roll out the magazine? (You get burnt if they cannot) 6) Contents 6.1) Content is KING. 6.2) Plan out the contents / sections before you roll out. 6.3) Don't just plan for 1 issue, plan for the years to come - keep the content fresh! 7) Stages 7.1) Establish presence 7.2) Establish basic website 7.3) Establish social presence 7.4) Establish team 7.5) Optimization ... So yep, hope this is of some help to you. Cheers and good luck!
If you have the budget, you may acquire one of the established blog or site then it will save you thousand of time of work.
