I relaunched a website and it is back on top of generic searches for its keywords. It is achieving the same high page impressions at it did 18 months ago - and more than my largest adsense earning stream already - but unlike 18 months ago it has not earnt any revenue - not even 1 click. 4 days and no clicks whatsoever. Nothing much looks different - the ads are still in the same place and are blended - but there is new, original content.

If you were in this situation what would you check? Do google ever hold back click info for any reason? What's goin' on?

Reposition your ads. edit the format. use different colurs. Put your ads in the hot zones of your pages

I've followed all the steps you mention and - like I wrote - the site was getting good click throughs. I really wondered if they were being held back by google - because there was a sudden profussion of clicks. I thought I read something like this on here before. I'd be grateful for suggestions other than the layout, blending of the ads please.

What is the source of traffic? If your traffic is from search engines (targeted), it will be better. Otherwise (traffic from digg etc.), expect a lesser CTR...
Optimize your site for search engines to get targeted traffic which will help you get more clicks :)
