    Being a developer in a developing country like Turkey is not easy.

    It's not bad, you earn, but it's not easy to invest in a developing country. In total, economy of Turkey ranks 16th in the world, 6th in Europe after Holland.

    What'd you do in such a playground? Here are some rules:
    * 5-10 million users,
    * Top sites in Alexa:
    http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_sites?cc=TR&ts_mode=country&lang=none
    * GDP: ~$6000, in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir ~$10000 -13000
    * There exists success stories, but they are few. Most of them are
    on dating, e-store and internet-news.
    * Few articles in Wikipedia-Turkish version.
    * There's no english> Turkish > english translator in Google-Translator (It's not easy, Turkish has a very very complex structure).
    * Universities mostly educate in English, so educated people are fluent in English, but in average, under European average.

    There have been many sites which tried to copy successful USA-sites, as an example: http://linkibol.com/ . No success at all.

    May be developers of Turkey need a huge "survey, research".

    Internet business does neither have nationality nor borders, if your question is how to succeed in the local market, than you need to cover areas which are not yet covered or highly-saturated. Comparing to US, i know that there are lots of areas that is not being entered, but you will need time to see the country advanced in e-business areas. Ebay bought some shares of the largest Turkish c2c marketplace, and monster recently opened a division. There are more partnerships and investments going on, so it will greatly continue as it is one of the emerging markets. GDP or the economy ranking is not important at this point as the more important thing is the share of the e-business, e-commerce and transactions online in the overall economy.
