I get a cheque ever month and if they sent them every week I think I would meet $100 everytime.

I don't know how people are not doing good. I'm suspecting that people are not spending enough time and effort into doing whatever they can to better off their site.

I've noticed a lot of people complain about profit, but have slapped together sites.

I'm hoping to be a consultant to adsense soon, I wonder if it'll actually help people because I'm not even sure if its the fact that people don't know, I think its probably the fact that people don't want to do anything and want easy money.

You have the Adsense links at the top, which is a good idea, go ahead and keep that. You also have the 728x90 banner at the bottom, but you need to get that up where people can see it. If I were you, I'd even put that banner right below your Adsense links. On your other pages, you also have that same adsense banner at the bottom. You can leave it if you want, but I'd put one of the square ad blocks closer to the top of each page. You can even weave it into the content of your pages. The blue color isn't bad, but you could experiment with red or black even. See how the square adsense block is part of the content on this page..http://www.schoolloaninfo.com.

Try something more like that and I bet your CTR improves. Good luck.

First off, both your sites look damned good and professional.

With the aviationearth site, I'd really think that you should find an affiliate program that your visitors might find interesting instead of using adsense at all (I don't know, model rockets - something) because your ads can't be really targeted because there just aren't a lot of adwords ads for 'jet engine'.

With the letssermo site, it's a similar thing. You don't really have a niche since your topics are all over the place. Because of this, your ads are going to be pretty random - at least on the big, main page (which is all people are likely to see since they'll probably just scroll down instead of clicking on individual posts).

What I always preferred to do with a blog-type site was have either titles only, or titles and a teaser show on the main page and only have the ads show on individual post pages. This way if someone is interested in reading a post about 'getting backlinks', then the ads they see are on this topic. This does 2 things: it lets you have more control over the ads people see because you control what the content of the posts is, and it would probably increase your CTR because you'd be getting ads that match the post people want to read.

If you can't, or don't want to change to a titles and teaser on main page format, I would at least put your adblock somewhere it's visible as soon as someone gets to your site hoping an ad will catch someone's eye (left and high is always good for this)

I'm no guru, so everything I've said here is strictly my opinion. I wish my sites looked as good as yours or got as much traffic. On the other hand, my sites do make me money...

    good luck

I'm making less than $1.00 a day with http://www.cashgamers.net via Adsense, but I make around $100 a month off affiliate sales on average so it's not a horrible scenario for me. I think my issue is that I'm in the gaming niche, and I'm literally being paid pennies for clicks...even with 500 uniques a day, I'm only making around $.50 daily. :/

That's pretty low, but there are a ton of gaming websites so it's a competitive niche. Although, if it's competitive, is it really a niche? I thought by niche, that means it's not terribly competitive since it's specialized.

Niche (nĭch, nēsh) n. A specialized area of demand for a product or service

Backlinks are more over-rated than ever lately. My latest site is 6 months old, relatively few backlinks, yet several pages rank top 3 in google for their subjects on competitive terms.

    Suggestions
    #1 - proper site SEO
#2 - proper keyword useage in articles, including titles and meta tags
#3 - limit redundant links like "read more" when the title is a link too.

Then write wikipedia-like quality articles and you're set. "Check this out, this dude's runnin another bogus contest, i bet it fails cuz yadda yadda yadds" will never see page one google results and honestly - page one google results send clicking visitors. Regulars don't click as much.

does the cost per click only depend on the keywords or does your location and/or the person who clicks' location also make a difference?

well if you get to 1 $ per day , than you can make another site and voila , you have 2 $ per day . There is no easy way in Adsense . You need a website in a niche with advertiser competion and you need as much traffic as possible . The more traffic you have , the more clicks you get . That means the more money .

it is often not that easy, because you have to work hard to keep the first site making $1 a day, and if you start a second site, and work hard on it, maybe the first site starts only making 50 cents a day, and if you try to do a third, suddenly you find all three sites are only making 25 cents a day

there is alot to be said for making one really good site and putting all your time and effort into it

I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Sometimes I make $2 a day and most days I make $0.00. I'm trying to experiment with ad placement, but I think my problem is more with generating traffic. Any suggestions or tips to improve CTR are welcome via PM.
