It also depends on the niche and the traffic region. Some low niche sites need 30-50 clicks to get that same buck.

Totally agree. I have one site that makes $3 a day from 25 clicks and 250 impressions while another that can make it that amount in 3 clicks with like 50impressions. So it does depend on the niche and type of traffic you get. Best to have a mixture of sites that generate income for you.

    Hi farrhad,
Considering you have such high traffic, With some minor modifications to your site I can quite surely get you at least 2-3 dollars a day from www.letssermo.com, in average case you'll be earning about 9-10 dollars a day. PM me if you are interested in my help. www.aviationearth.com, also has some room for improvement adsense-wise.

PS - around 250 visitors a day earns me 1-2 dollars daily.

I tend to believe that it comes down to traffic more than ad colors and placement issues. If you don't have visitors to your site, then you have ZERO chance of getting any clicks. People need to worry more about how their trying to get traffic. I'm a huge believer in organic, search engine based traffic. Nothing beats that as far as I'm concerned. I'd be willing to be that those people who aren't earning much, don't have any of their keywords in the top 10 or maybe even top 20 of google. If you do have keywords in the top 10, and still are not getting traffic, you have chosen keywords that get no searches, and you need to change.

Some people are lazy..yes, but many people who haven't been successful probably don't know some basic SEO, which can help them get decent search engine results. SERP's (on proper keywords) = TARGETED TRAFFIC = BETTER CTR = $$$. This little equation is not groundbreaking. Anyone who's successfully optimized their site and landed a top 5 Google spot can tell you that it's 100% true.

With all of the information about SEO floating around on this site alone, everyone should be able to put together a site that's properly built to get decent SERP's. Obviously if you're going after a highly competitive niche, then you're task at hand is more difficult, but it all comes down to good search engine optimization. If you have an unlimited budget, and can Adwords your way to higher traffic, then you're in a different situation than 99% of most DP members I'd imagine.

    1. traffic
    2. type of traffic
    3. type of content
Those are the things that hurt people the most.
Fix those and you will get more than $3 a day.....

Not necessary, there is some 3rd world countries where you can't have a good live with 10$/day. If you want to leave your day job you need a min of 50$/day.

I have a forum on gaming, and it's stuggled to meet $6 within the past 2 months. It used to make a lot, but the ratio of visitors to clicks is extremely poor. I have had it for almost a year, and it has made me $140(ish) so far, but it's really slowed down as of late. Still, i did kind of leave it to its own devices for a while, so it goes to show if you don't put any effort into a site, you don't reap the rewards as much.
I have started to put some more time into it, and have recieved more clicks in the past few days though (but they earnt less than $ accumulatively), but i'm going to put the work back into it again. ^^

I am averaging about 100 clicks aday and doing this part time
Guys I am not saying this to gloat but to tell you that it is easy to achieve better than I am doing if you set your mind to it

I pay a lot of attention to the content on my site. This is crucial. You need to draw them in with high quality information

I also tried and tested my ad formats till I found what worked. For me making my ads look like they are part of my content does not work.

Finally I try to get traffic from the search engines. In my experience this is the traffic that really converts

Forum signatures are all well and good but it is the traffic from Google and MSN and Yahoo search queries that are the real clickers

    Hope this helped

What am I doing wrong? I have a forum site, forums tend to have a lower ctr in general (though it has picked up a lot lately). My two highest traffic pages have a lot of pictures on them (the traffic comes from google images so I have to keep them up). And I don't get much traffic to begin with. I'm working on that so for now it's mostly a traffic issue with me.

I have not run a forum site, but every forum owner I've ever talked to says that Adsense doesn't work for a forum format. I'm a member of a lot of forums, but I don't think I've ever once clicked on an adsense ad on one of them.

The thing with forums is people become blind to the ads fairly quick. Your chances of clicks are mainly from people who are guests on your site, or just signed up. Members who post often on your forums probably won't even be able to tell you what the last ad they saw on your site was about. Think about the placement of ads here on DP. How often do you really notice them? :p

To increase earnings through adsense on non-forum sites...just keep bringing new content to your site, get backlinks, and maintain it. That's all you need to do.

I'm running a new site and I believe it's in the Google Sandbox and that's partly why I'm not earning very much. Has anyone else had to deal with waiting out the sandbox?

    Dude

It depends, yes if you have a site with "made for Adsense template" and a niche which pays more than 0.25$ click then yes...

    but

I have a blog which is updated everyday, with more than 6000 page views / day, every post receives 30+ comments. Template is professionally designed so there's no much space to work with add placement although I tried everything -literally. CTR is 0.50% - that's fuckin' great for me! Visitors like to click around the site because it's interesting, they don't have interest for adds because they always find something more interesting.

So if you really want to make big money with Adsense then do this:

Site layout/template is crucial, number one for CTR!

Less you post new stuff, more clicks you will get - sad thing but it's because when visitor visits your site chances are 100% higher that if he doesn't find what he wants - he will click the add!

Before, when I was making stupid blogs, and with this template ( http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/9880/13853192kk8.jpg ) - my CTR was 3%+ ...

Is adsense still a viable model with all the changes they've made?

I've talked to many people who've seen their adsense checks slashed for no other reason they can see other than google cutting the percentage of ad dollars paid out (keeping more for themselves).

often niche related in many cases. two of my fan sites get up to 30 clicks a day combined but barely scratch a dollar.
