Happy holidays to everyone. A few weeks ago I decided to develop a new web site based on a market concept I knew nothing about, using editing tools I had never used, programming language I had no clue about, and server side database programs I haven't been involved with for years. What started out as an idea to open a web directory, I began asking myself why? Then I spent a few months working the vilesilencer listing for my business site. Somewhere along the way I was convinced that a general directory by itself wasn't going to provide much to anyone and a niche directory by itself would be a futile effort. Unless of course I was in the niche. Now being that I wanted to build something challenging and at least a little entertaining, I decided to open an arcade site. Well of course that would all be fine an dandy, but how many times have I ever spent time in an arcade? Well then a forum would be handy of course. Then I just couldn't resist thinking a chat room would fit in nicely, too. So now I am close to having a complete little online community in one little tiny tiny spot. And as you can imagine what began as a tiny little project became huge. A SE Friendly web niche directory for forums, chat rooms, and game sites. That's going to one or another provide benefit to the site and to the listing. A nice little arcade that's complete on its own, a java based chat room that has some potential, and a forum that is devoted (right now) to ideas and ways of developing the community. We've got issues, too. As I mentioned I threw the wysiwyg (frontpage) out the door and have been trying to tie everything together on the entry page. It's functioning but it has to be replaced soon. The arcade doesn't have a registration interface with the forum and chat room but the forum and chat room talk to each other (which is good thing). So why am I posting here. Cause I couldn't figure out a better way or place to ask this. This site needs some banging on. I think its working but can it handle any type of load at all? I'll be happy if it can sustain 40 to 50 people at a time in any one area. If it handles more that's wonderful, if it handles less that wouldn't be good. Problem is I can't type that fast. Or be in that many places at once. So here I am. Asking for a Christmas present.
