Hi all... I'm wondering what people will answer to this question... 1. if you had to choose just 3 things to put in your websites as part of your SEO - what will you choose? I am talking about everything: Title-tag, Meta Tags, Incoming-links, content, domain-name and so on... Best! Guy.
I really didn't thought content can be classified as "thing". If this is OK, then mine is : Title Link Content
yes Pages with little supportive content often rank on the power of their titles and inbound links Still, trying to think of SEO as 1,2,3 bang - is a bit like trying to decide which 3 ingredients of a cake recipe are most important. Sure there may be a few ingredients that you could do with-out in a pinch, but the quality of the final product will likely suffer. I try to think of SEO from a wholistic approach - you can ultra-optimize your page titles, content etc. and not rank well for extended periods - everything togather is what makes a page rank well consistantly over time. Titles, content density, content quality, competitiveness of the target theme, links, as well as reducing problematic obstacles - poor internal linking, broken links, excessive onpage scripting, content encapsulated in javascript or flash, 302 redirects etc. Not to mention spam and other poorly optimized or over optimized elements. Still, If I could only optimize 3 on page elements on an otherwise blank HTML document it would be Title (focused on contents central theme) H1 (matched to the title) Content (generally 2-5% KW density for a single keyphrase theme)
Seems like most everyone is in agreement as far as what the 3 things are, just the order thats not the same, haha.
Yeah - I've seen a few sites that seem to evidence the idea that header tags are losing their effectiveness - but I think its becoming more and more a combination of things than just a few elements being heavily weighted. But still if 'I' was choosing I'd include the H1 - hehe -What can I say - I'm resistant to change heh
Title Content Links Not much use having links pointing to you before you have the content for visitors or SE spiders.
Interesting... Do u think H1 worth more than content? My opinion - if you have a bad-domain name and a super-content pages -> you are gonna get a lot of trafic... That takes me to the conclusion that it's better to have a super-content or........
