well to begin find something that excites you then find ways of getting quality people to your site like forum posting article marketing writing blogs networking offline placing ads in ezines placing ads in magazines the hard part is finding something that is worthwhile marketing and putting your time into because there is allot of crap out there that is here today and gone tomorrow
Act more, think less. The key to success is implementation - ask any CEO. An average plan executed well will always surpass the success of a good plan executed poorly. Focus on the results and be persistent. Do it because you want to and because you have belief in your ability to execute. Dream big, research well, and take action. There are no shortages of ethical business opportunities - but there is a shortage of understanding on what it takes to be successful (online or offline). To make 3k per month, start with what you can afford to spend (time & money), and reinvest resources (experience and money) based upon the results. There are no magic bullets here. The perception of "overnight" success is mythical and typically has followed persistence and determination of the maker. Pursue goals because they are worthwhile and regardless of outcome will make you a little wiser and/or happier as a result of having chased them. When you fail (paraphrasing Edison) you are simply one step closer to finding the way that will work for you. Earn $1.00 per month and repeat the success 3,000 times (or however many times you need to in order to reach your goal). Finally, always spend less than you earn and in words of wiser people than me, "the downside pain is always greater than the upside gain........" (a statement on divestment - don't fall in love with your "own stock").
good thread. i'm still new to online business but what i would do is invest on expanding my network and my email list. providing your own service or product is the way to go.

Porn surfers spend money? I've always thought it was one of the hardest things to sell nowadays, since its basically free.
My advice... spend a few years building something useful for consumers/web surfers... then make some money advertising. Find a niche that can be improved upon, preferably something you are passionate about or have an interest in.
This is how I did it. I started by developing some skills. In my early days it was learning how to build websites. Today you should get all the skills you can on how to build good quality blogs with wordpress. Learn how to customize them, a little bit about graphics. Now go out and get yourself a reseller hosting package and practice setting some up for different fictitious businesses and learn those skills. These will end upo being your samples and you can also monetize them with adsense or various affiliate programs. If you put in the time and concerted effort maybe a couple of weeks. Find a couple of young people at college, senior school, young mums wanting some casual work who can copy and paste businesses info into the blog. Businesses, churches, social groups normally have stuff in brochures documents etc. Now make a CD with how you did it. Simple to follow instructions. Now ring up a few local web design places and finds out what they are charging and hold onto your seat. In our area they range from $500 to quite a few thousand. Pick a price in between somewhere. Don't under charge. Now get the word out in your local community that you will set up a website and offer 1 years free hosting. You can do this in local papers, notice boards etc. If ever I need some fast cash I do this and can make $4000 a week so you should have no trouble getting $3000 a month. I did one yesterday for $880 with hosting each year after of $300. Offer great service and with plugins you can offer to add audio, powerpoint presentations, video etc. This is how I started and it still works great today though not my main online business. You will never be able to compete with large hosting companies but if you add value like installing wordpress and customizing, showing them how to make PDf documents, add multimedia etc and then how to manage it themselves you will be better than the rest.
