I just introduced myself in another thread, but decided to start a new one. Thanks everyone for the warm words of welcome. I should let everyone know that, while I'm certainly not some sort of internet "guru", I'm not a newbie either. I have TONS of ebooks on matter of internet marketing (every conceivable aspect of it) and do have sales experience. My problem is that I don't have a lot practical hands on experience and I simply can't afford to figure the whole thing out by trial and error. I should also say that I have a report (ebook) that I wrote of which I am the prime source that I think everybody who wants to make money from the internet needs. I just don't know the best way to get it out for people to see without wasting a bunch of money on trial and error. My ebook addresses the problem of competition over what to sell on the internet, in the sense that there's a lot of people selling almost exactly the same thing. Any thoughts on the cheapest and most efficient way to market this? Anyone?
Hi, what you are saying here sounds quite contradicting to me. Or perhaps I did not understand you well enough. You said you are not a guru and not a newbie, and have tons of books. Trouble is you do not have practical hands-on experience. It is going to be hard to convince people to get your report if you hardly have any real experience to boot. But I guess if you want to make it free for our folks, you can do so in the freebies section of Buy, Sell, Trade section.
Let me elaborate. I have a lot of theoretical knowledge about how to go about marketing a report, but that's all it is..is theoretical. It's like saying that if a thousand people see your site and 2% buys what you're selling for $40 a piece, that's $800. That's great and that is how it works...in theory. The problem is how to get 1000 people to your site in the first place. I was involved in selling information through the mail in the days B4 the internet became popular, so I know how to write good headlines, how to write sales letters, etc. What I don't know is stuff like HTML, SEO, how to use banner ads, back end links, how to start a blog, tagging etc. As I said, I have lots of info about how to go about marketing it, but a lot of the books want to sell you something else, or one person will say one thing, and I'll read somewhere else that someone else says that what the first guy said is wrong. Safelists are a good example of this. They're cheap and safe. One person will swear by them. But the next guy comes along and says that everybody on the list wants to sell, but nobody wants to buy. I don't want to waste my time with them if they don't work, or pay someone to tell me they do if they don't. Internet marketing can be a pretty daunting thing. That's why most people don't make it. But I know it can be done and I do have a solid product. My product probably isn't geared to most people in this forum, as it seems to me that most of them are looking for more specific advice than what I offer. My product has more to do with creative ideas than specifically making money, but is intended to do that (make money) for me and the person I'm selling it to. I'll say more about that later. Generally speaking, I have an ebook I want to promote, but not a lot of money to promote it with. Basically what I'm looking for is honest marketing advice on what really works in reality for people, as opposed to people who just want to sell me something. I'm not looking for a mentor I guess is the word. I just want to do it the right way ( as much as possible) the first time.
Everyone has to start somewhere. It's like saying "We won't give you a job without experience." But if you don't have the experience, how are you supposed to get the job? It's a catch 22. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. That's the problem I have right there.
Chezz223, you should try and take actions today. Set an objective, think how to reach the objective, and then execute it. I would recommend you to plan a small scale internet marketing plan. Start, and stick to it until your objective met, and then finish it, and move to bigger scale internet marketing plan.
