One of my clients has just given me the kind of news we all dream about. He wants to quadruple his monthly online marketing investment Obviously this is a great opportunity and the chance to do some stuff I don't usually get to do with smaller budgets. Let me tell you what I'm thinking of doing and then it'll be interesting to hear others views. It's an e-commerce site which I've been marketing for nearly a year, started off with some on-page optimisation and major directory listings. Since then I've been working on link development (more directories, free 1 way links and sponsored 1 way links, writing/distributing some articles) and running Adwords campaigns every other month. Now here's what I'm considering increasing Adwords budget and number of phrases Looking for higher quality text link ads Looking for other Site Sponsorship packages Newsletter Sponsorship Presell Pages What would you do? And how much of the budget would you allocate to each? For example, would you spend most of it on Adwords? Adwords definitely increases sales but doesn't produce as good ROI as organic search (for their target keyword terms) Organic search produces the best ROI but can't produce the volume of sales that PPC does (in a shorter period of time). My hope is that with a bigger budget, I can get better (and quicker) results on organic search, but I'm prepared to continue with PPC while waiting for results from the organic work. Be interested in others views and experiences, particularly with e-commerce sites.
Based on whats working for you in the past years, whatever works well-just duplicated 10x-100x outsource some of the tedious work.
Well. You know it really depends of the service or product you sell or market. I have significant experience in the web hosting market and I can say that there is a tough competition there. It is really important to be well presented through Adwords but it is more important to get customers. It is a different strategy if you want to achive better rank in search engines than to get unique visitors.
I have to be very honest, TangoUK. If you are handling someone's advertising budget....and, you have to ask forum members how you should advetise....I think your client has made a mistake. If I were your client and increased my budget, I would expect you to have the expertise and not have to "ask" a forum for advice. Just my 2 cents. Jim
