Thanks an excellent idea Harver. I think they will get a lot of advertisers purchasing advertising if they had this functionality in place. Plus, it would save Google a lot of money as they will not have to pay-out some adsense publishers.

It would essentially convert to a Banner Exchange programme for users using both functions. There are similar sites, like FreeBanners.com etc that perform these kind of banner exchange programmes.

I would take away the ebay AdWord ads that show up when you search for almost anything.

Now that would be really nice!

That's easy! I'd eliminate their obsessive focus on links as such a major factor in their SERPs. It's KILLING Google's relevance more and more every day. Why? Because webmasters are getting more savvy - they buy links or do the old cross-linking nonsense or pay people to work out link exchanges, yadda yadda yadda.

When Google finally gets fed up with sites that look like a 10-year old made them showing up #1 out of 5 million indexed sites, MAYBE they'll win back some of the market share they are now losing to Yahoo and MSN. Seriously, haven't you noticed that Google's results pages are getting uglier and uglier, full of crap sites pumped out by TE and other software garbage? No real content, and what is there is just half-assed to avoid being banned.

I thought the idea was to provide searchers with RELEVANT and USEFUL and FRESH information. Apparently, Google seems to think it's more important that 1,000 other sites chose to link to your kindergarten nonsense. I'm telling you, Google's 15 minutes are about up, at least in terms of their utter domination of search, if they don't return to a focus on actual content.

    OK, done ranting.

One thing i wud really love to change about google, if i get a proposal from a Santa or something, is the ownership. I wud like the ownership to be changed and the new owner be me. howzaat?

But as u said, yahoo and msn is winning hearts with more relavant results nowadays. for example as i posted earlier, i searched for 'high paying keywords' and got nothing from google, but got http://hackadsense.info/ like sites from yahoo. This is forcing me think that, google's strictness on search term density knocks out some good sites.

LOL, its the Link Analysis that made them what they are..LOL. Without it they would be the same as the old Altavista.

I would get rid of the Sandbox.

Link analysis isn't the issue, as I believe I made very clear. It's the OVEREMPHASIS on link analysis. Google's SERPs can be (and increasingly are being) gamed by clever webmasters with the time and/or resources to go out and buy links or work out recip. deals with many other webmasters. Have you ever stopped to really consider what that means from the standpoint of both time and content?

Regarding time, websites would be so much better if more time was spent researching and posting high quality, useful content that changes as needed. But that's the very thing being sacrificed in the mad dash to amass IBL's to try to rank better at Google.

Regarding content, take a hard look at the SERPs at Google these days. Do a variety of searches on several commercial terms. Then compare the usefulness of the content on the top rankers to the same SERPs at Yahoo and MSN beta.

Yahoo and MSN are picking up market share on them. That's the only proof they should need that something's amiss at Googleplex.

I really thought I was the only one with the same feeling. If I could change one thing besides getting our own site's on the top :) is some humans editing the crap that's there. But I guess we have an other DMOZ long story.

A little more disclosure as to what needs to be done to get a site to rank higher (but I guess that would be too much)

If I could change one thing about Google, it would be taking away the reviews that show up near local search results. Google is not Yelp. Reviews can have a big impact on small businesses. Google shouldn't just throw these rants in the search results. They should either take the time to develop that part of their service or leave it out. Real spammy those local Google reviews.

Google search results ranking secrets should be revealed for better improving our sites rankings in the search engine. Of course, it is not an appropriate thing if it is publicly shown, however, at least it should appear or clue should be given, which can be only understandable by the advanced SEOers :)
