If You Clicked On Your Own Ads?

If you have clicked on your ads twice at most, will Google take action if they find out?

Or is it best to report yourself?

I clicked once the first time I got Google to see if the code was working, a second time merely by accident. I was scrolling and I hit the ad bar...

Am I in trouble for this?

Also, if users from my site(not many, like 50 or so) click an ad once a week, will I be banned? I don't ask for clicks, but I think they have caught on that I am trying to earn money for the site...Any thing I can do?

be paranoid and tell google. they will tell you don't worry and please don't do that again, but you've gained their trust as a publisher who is trying hard to prevent click fraud and who is honest when things go wrong. works in your favor. :)

Exit your site and do a Google search for it...Or type in the url by hand.

Don't ever click on it if you don't want to be suspended the day you hit $100

No, no, don't listen to yfs1! Click on your ads, go ahead! It's harmless! Click on it again and again whenever you see something interesting! Seriously!

    Huumm quick answer-- Yes!
Googles doesn't like repeated traffic very much and...If that traffic clicks a lot i guess Google will not like it even more!
Just tell your "users"friends not to click ;)

    A very good point!

Or you can alternatively do this... Right click on the ad's anchor text link -> choose copy link location(Mozilla browser)

Paste it on the browser address bar ... A sample one looks like this ...

    http:// pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/iclk?sa=l&ai=B3n_6xubpQ5jrOJvAwgH

    DAK&num=2&adurl=http:// www.somewebsite.xyz[/url]&client=ca-pub-7676436325709760

Now you remove the unnecessary part ... and you land up with http:// www.somewebsite.xyz

You can now safely visit the website ad you found interesting on your own website! :p

I bought a new laptop with a touchpad, and I accidentally clicked my own ad. I e-mailed the AdSense team, and they reprimanded me but did not ban me. Of course as Murphy's law would have it, the next time I went back to my site, the same thing happened. I reported myself again, received $0.00 for the click, and disabled my ads whenever I visit my site. Crazy touchpad.

Well I e-mailed Google. They thanked me and asked me to never do it again.:)

Then they said I should use the "preview" tool? What does this tool do?

Most of my self inflicted clicks come from my todler son slamming his hands on the keyboard and playing with the mouse while on my lap!

Just email them about it. Last month, my website got included in a New Zealand ISP's newsletter and as a result I was suddenly getting thousands of visits to my site. I even emailed them about that explaining the cause of the sudden spike. I got an "All's well" email back last week, so I would definitely suggest emailing them and telling them when and on which page you clicked on the ad.

They were probably talking about the "Preview" took in Dreamweaver or whichever editor you use.

nah, they're talking about the Adsense Preview Tool, which i find it very hard to understand the way to use it. so i just copy the URL and type it into the browser.
