Let say that you woke up tomorrow morning and found out you are a millionaire. What would the first thing that you would do? Would love to read my fellow Digital Point members ideas! Thanks Original Q&A
Have you won a lottery or something like that? If I get money like that suddenly I will equally divide the money in three parts. A B and C I will deposit the A part of money in safe deposit in government treasury and earn profit for the rest of my life. From the Part B I will buy land in rural area and build farm house. I will breed fish live stock etc and sell them for a profit. I will hire cheap workforce to look after the animals. I will just manage them and supervise what they do. Part C I will donate in charity. Probably for education of poor kids or build a hospital in a village or donate money to already existing non profit hospital.
Well the very first thing i would do is eat breakfast. Then i would go and purchase a huge piece of land and build the best theme park ever. a huge one with different themed parks, plus a sports village that includes every sporting activity. Oh and buy a farm and rear my own animals, grow my own food. .......and visit the moon.
I would love to build entire hotels and let people who are struggling in life to live there rent free for xx years until they can recover, and set up and provide counseling, and support, and even job seeking services. Providing a safe secure and affordable place to live is often all people need in order to get their life turned around. Realistically, what I would do, and can achieve would depend on the amount I got. Most people who get large amounts end up worse off. So in reality, I would do something like this: 5% - repay mortgages / blow on whatever I want 5% - keep as cash 10% - charity 80% - invest 50% of profit from investment goes to charity. so if i got 100million, while I would only give 10million to charity, and put 80million into investment, if my investments bring back just a sad 10% per year, thats $8million.... with 4million going to charity. Over 30 years, that equals 120million, and I would be financially secure, compared with just giving 100% to a charity, they run out of money and spend the next 30 years begging.
No newbie191.. I didn't win the lottery. Still dreaming about it Thanks for your response and interesting answers Dario McNut, Alpha_Mental, and matt_62! oh yeah.. Alpha_Mental I think I eat breakfast right after I came too! Probably faint first, if I found I won!
The percentage of sharing is different. But I am contributing and donating some money from my monthly salary. It is fine to my happiness.
Look of positive responses, surprised not to see anyone answer something like "Party like a rock star!"
PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR! There are some persons very close to me who are suffering from some nor the other problem which they can't successfully deal with chiefly because they lack money. A very close friend of mine had a semi-paralytic attack last year which doesn't enable him to use his left side properly. There is some medication and a surgery his doc has advised for full recovery but it costs way more than he can afford. Another person very close to me, a colleague, is undergoing a very bad phase right now due to a severe financial crisis that recently hit him. He just sold his second home. If I woke up tomorrow morning and found out that I indeed have a million bucks, I would pour a major chunk of it into helping these people to fight their struggles. Nothing would delight me more. And whatever remains with me, well, I'll buy some stuff I badly need at the moment (a new PC, a cell phone – mostly tech) and put rest of the money into my back account. On second thoughts, investing looks much better.
Wow! Thank you very much. First - An island, where I would build a self-sufficient house, grow my food and spent some time there. Second - I'd buy an RV on every continent, and then travel each continent one at a time, flying in between them for certain events in the year and back to meet people. Third - I'd save the rest for when I really want / need something. Financial security makes me happy.
Hello, First: buy a house in the old Japan (Hokkaido, for example) Second: donate some money to some people I know Third: buy a bookshop/invest in something I love
Great topic! I would focus on donating a good majority of the money to local charities, particularly those that invest their time and efforts in caring for animals and children in need. I would save some as well to ensure my family is taken care of.
@springning same here, but with the whole family.. then, If it is possible I will establish a school and hospital for people in need
If i got $100million, i'll give all to the poor and then start dreaming again about getting $10billion for my self
