Hey All I started seo for my site, but suddenly my management is changing meta (title, description) and content of my site. Is this effect my past working seo results plz reply me i am waiting for ur suggestion. regards chakri
hi chakri, There is no hard and fast yes/no answers, it depends. Every time i have changed a design there's been no negative effects to SERP's, for instance i changed the design of one of My sites http://karomasti.com just a few weeks back and the SERP's didn't move.. actually many improved. I switched Content Management Systems, and the difference in coding was quite substantial and everything went perfectly fine. But on the other hand i've heard of many people who have changed designs and the SERP's dropped even though the content was the same. You just need to pay attention to things like headline tags <h1>, content layout, menu locations and even little things like Alt tags to make sure it's either similar to or better than the old design. I use the Web Developer addon for Firefox, you can zap all stylesheets on both designs and see the differences in a more spider like fashion. I guess if your really concerned, you could apply the new design to a subpage or small section of your site and monitor things before making the official switch. Or if you have an unimportant domain that ranks for a few keywords, you could test run it on it. Hope that helps.
I think you are asking about change of meta tags and not design and in that case it will sure change your rankings in google and other search engines
I've seen a few circumstances where google drops the changed site for a few days in the SERPS to re-rerate it. IF you have a good amount of backlinks.. google will relist site in original position fast if its still as relevant ofcourse.
When we changed our title tags (due to a change of location) we went down int he serps for 4 months. It was as if Google hit us with some sort of penalty - no matter what I did we were at no 9 for "website design bury st edmunds"; I would make a seo improvement, we would rise for a few hours and then get knocked back down again. Then, suddenly, the penalty lifted at within a couple of weeks we were no 1. So I would say that title tag changes can effect serps in the short term.
1. Page TITLE - will affect your ranking, give Google a few days to re-adjust 2. DESCRIPTION TAG - no effect on ranking 3. CONTENT will affect ranking if major change of keyword density for the keywords you currently rank well for If your off-site optimisation is strong then the on-site effect will be less, and vice versa.
The TITLE tag can have a major effect on ranking. Did you remove these keywords from the TITLE, or did you re-arrange them? Hello from Sudbury
