My dear friend you are again talking about the numbers and numbers dont matter here you can get thousands of links in the world and can still rank #50 and on the other hand you can have a few hundred quality links and can still rank #1.

And also do remember that PR has nothing to do with your rankings and also the quality of links.

Almost anything you do that affects how the <body> of your HTML and/or <title> in the <head> is rendered at a given URL (including changing templates) can affect your rankings... sometimes positively... sometimes negatively. I just depends on the page.

Changes to <title> can have drastic affects on rankings since this is the #1 on-page ranking factor in almost any search engine's ranking algorithm. (PS: <title> is NOT a <meta> element)

Changes to <meta name="keywords"> elements will NOT affect your rankings as this HTML is ignored by almost every search engine on the planet due to its past abuse.

Changing the <meta name="description"> will generally not affect your rankings either at the major engines... especially, Google. Google does not consider the <meta name="description"> element in their ranking algorithm. It is ignored when ranking URLs. Where it becomes important is that IF it gets displayed in the search results as the snippet of text describing the page THEN it can affect your click-thru-rates.

Even template changes can affect rankings drastically. Your template generally contains your navigation (top navigation, left navigation, if applicable, and footer links), one of the most important pieces of a web site's Information Architecture. Since inbound links and the associated link text (not ONLY from external pages but also from internal pages) carry a LOT of weight in almost every ranking algorithm, changing the template can also have dramatic affects on rankings.

So, u mean u have changed the whole content??
Is that will change the whole topic of the site, and the KW??
If that will be the case, then I guess, yes, it will have an effect on SEO.

Yes, there will be changes on your site's SERP if the meta tag, meta desciption, keywords, title, content getting changed. However, I just wonder wheter the changes in template will effect or not?
