I wonder, if Google sees only dofollow sites or links for PR calculation and ignores the nofollow ones, then what would have happened if all the sites in the world were nofollow? What decides whether a site should be nofollow or dofollow? If I get a bunch of blogs or forums on searching for some keywords, why is it that some are dofollow and some are not?
If all the sites are nofollow than Google will have some other algorithm for pr calculation. An html code decides if a link is dofollow or nofollow.
But who decides whether my site should be a nofollow or dofollow? If I want my site to be dofollow or nofollow how can I change it?
But most newbies who take up blogging stuff and all, won't be knowing about this evil nofollow stuff. If I want people to comment on my blog, they won't be doing it if they knew that my blog is a nofollow. And I won't change it from nofollow to dofollow unless I know there's something like it. And there may be so many who don't know. So if this is the situation, then out of every 10 site, there would be 9 sites coming up with nofollow with only 1 with dofollow.
Some people are more willing to spend time on moderation and make their sites / forums / blogs dofollow.
Well if all sites had the no follow attirbute, surely there would be no such thing as nofollow? also google would just use something else?
But I guess that would be the stage only after the site is a success and more and more people are discussing things on your blog. Newbies would be finding it tough to get people talking and hence would resort to making their sites/blogs dofollow to attract people and get them talking.
No follow only affects pr. A no follow link with the correct anchor will still help you to rank for that anchor.
