My wife got on this discussion since the race is so close. We discussed it a long time. I am personally siding with McCain/Palin at this point for a variety of issues. However, I think Obama still stands a good chance of winning this race. With that said, I don't actually think that Obama would be the worst President ever as some make him out to be. In fact, I think his economic policy falls more closely to mine than does McCain's. However, I think McCain is much more favorable to me in the energy department and I think that in turn could help some of the economy. Can you name one good thing that you think you can identify with the "other" candidate (the one you will not be voting for)?
McCain is going to lose big and destroy the christian's political power and finish the Neocons once and for all. for this i am thankful
Wow Gator... someone already puked in your thread... Maybe ask a mod to clean it up and then others might come in.
I am social liberal and a fiscal conservative. And like most Americans I am for a very strong military. I prefer Obama's social positions. I prefer McCain's experience and think he would be a better Commander and Chief. I think they both have problems with their economic polices but I prefer Obama's with respect to taxes. Lastly, with a socially conservative leaning Supreme Court and the next President likely to nominate at least one new member, I would prefer an Obama pick versus a McCain pick. That being said, I actually like both candidates unlike many of the people here who hate them both and hate the two party system and just rant and rave how we are all just pawns.
There is a lot I used to like about John McCain, although I say, in all honesty, much of that has slipped over this election process. I will always honor his dauntless courage in surviving what he went through as a POW. I wish him a life of peace and contentment in retirement. I will honor his past commitment to do the right thing, in his mind, against his party's wishes (the many who sing his praises now, on this forum alone, who used to categorically dismiss him as a "nutcase" then, notwithstanding). He's abandoned many of those things now, but I was glad for his voice at that time.
Same here. I like both. I like McCain a lot less since he chose Palin, but I still think he'd be a decent President. But still there's no way I could vote for him with Palin behind him. Eight weeks isn't a long enough time to get to know a candidate, and the little I do know about her, I don't like.
I can't exactly vote, but if I could, it would be strongly for Obama. One thing I guess I could like about McCain is that he clearly shows depth o character from what happened to him in Vietnam. Having said that, depth o character rarely affects performance as president.
