If the internet hadn't been invented what would you be doing now?

Five DP members reckon if the internet hadn't been invented they would be inventing it themselves. You're joking right?

The internet enables me to work for myself. I'm never more grateful for it than Monday mornings. If it hadn't been invented I'd have been up a 6:00, at the bus stop at 7:10, the office at 8:45, the Monday morning meeting at 9:15 and wishing I was anywhere else by 9:20. Instead I've had my usual lazy Monday morning. This morning I've had coffee, checked out my daily tarot cards and last weeks stats. I'll plan this week's work while I'm walking through the woods and fields later and I'll start after I've had my hair done. Without the internet I'd be back in the aptly named rat race.

 

Studying......

 

I would probably just invent the internet, there problem solved.

 

I could be bossing people around for a living too deluxdon - the internet could have saved people from us - it must keep a lot of people at home!

 

reading or sleeping... most probably sleeping...

 

If the internet hadn't been invented, then I am a already a doctor now.

 

I would happily do my 9-5 job and spend the rest of time peacefully (?) reading books and watching TV programs

 

Watching Tv knowing nothing about the net world

i would have a life then..

and i will save all the money that i used to upgrade my pc..

and definitely i would have laid by now..

Then, innovative marketing minds must have been busy finding alternatives to internet and Spammers would be in other places

 

I wouldn't be working for myself either.

 

I think that it's evident to see that without the internet a lot of people (probably near enough everyone on DP) wouldn't be earning half as much money as they do now!

The internet has created so many amazing business oppurtunities, not just for business people and professionals, either but also for those who blog and do many other things.

Hmmm.... sort of strange to think about! Being relatively young, I was 11 when I started using the internet so I don't have a real frame of reference other than the internet! I'd probably be working a regular office type job, though. I don't know how people got their own businesses off the ground before the internet!

 

without internet I would do a lot of programming...and playing computer games...and watching soccer at the tv

 

I'd probably still be working in publishing - but doing it the old way with Gorrila glue and big presses. I remember having to go to the printers with files, and not pdfing it up **shudder***
