a search engine "cuil" is now searching over 121,617,892,992 web pages. and as cuil claims Cuil searches more pages on the Web than anyone else—three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft. and it really has some greate fetures. it has tabed search option like no other. here is screenshot how cuil search looks like cuil is now getting a decent ammount of hits, and it ranks arround 2500 in alexa. but the only and biggest problem now is this site is a little slow. so what if cuil takes the market from google in 2-3 years? we have to do all works again thats we are doing now. I'm scared
I highly doubt that will happen, as Google are just to big to be taken over by any search engine, they have the advertising (Ad Words), social networking (Youtube), Publishing (AdSense) and so many services backing them up, thus they have high traffic websites, which advertise Google, which is quite unbeatable as they are a multi-billion dollar company. I doubt Cuil, can beat them in this type of market in the next 2-3 years.
It's basically just showing things in a new layout. It will never take over the simple search in google. However, if it ever poses a threat, you can assume google will do something very similar, and most likely better, to counter.
I doubt it will replace google or yahoo. Half the things I searched for using Cuil didn't yield anything functional. Who knows
If it ever does pose a threat, Google would either battle it out, or buy it out. (Just like what happened with Google Videos and YouTube)
Sigh with all the Google brainwashed people on here, it makes me wonder if Google actually sends their employees on here to do public relations. Google is more vulnerable than ever. They are getting so sloppy. I don't see the complete dominance lasting too much longer. I think within 2 or 3 years their market share could slip down to only 50%.
Brainwashed?? yeah, you too. How could you come and insult other peoples just because they like Google? I have no doubt that Google will fall, nothing forever but not within 2-3 years from now. Take a look at Cuil.com, they are trying to be a different of Google but they are still a search engine that being like a Google. Their 3 column display results are really bad, their results are sucks too. How could they come over Google if they are not that special?

Cuil is a total bluff. It doesnt even have 1 million total indexed pages, as I believe. What would you say if you search for cutewriting, and my PR4 blog with about 400 pages indexed on Google is not even indexed in Cuil? Also, for most search terms Cuil has too few results. No it doesnt have 121 billion pages indexed. Thats outright nonsense!
And of course, most of the results from Cuil are substandard. There you will never hit as relevant results as given by google. Cuil is done for
It will never overtake google unless it present the search results to what a person is looking for. Most of the time, I don't see this happening. Google still beat Cuil hands down on this area. So it doesn't matter if they just search more pages and as long as at the end of the day, they don't present you with what you want, it's end of the story.
Always be prepared for the eventual fall of Google. It will mean a lot of new opportunity for those of us who belong to informative forums and keeps testing new techniques. Right now Googles search share is only increasing. Watch closely Micrcsofts new private searching. That is a great marketing idea for search.
unless there's cuilsense and paying high lol, otherwise not alot of people will have the incentive to use it, at least for now.
Yahoo and MSN are the two old and big names in this game, and they have failed to beat googl in so many years. So I guess a newbie like Cuil isn't gonna give much competition . This is only what I think, I can be wrong.
I am sure they will be closer to google very soon, they crawled my 2 websites for more than 6 months now and crawler never leaves the site it is always there though my site is not in the their primary index yet. But let us wait they will get user feedback and improve as times pass. They know that google search has flaws and if they improve in those segments they can be very close to top search engines IMHO. My personal opinion is that they should have much more real life testing before they went live .
