if re-directing two popular indexed pages to the homepage is a bad thing for future Google Rankings

    if re-directing two popular indexed pages to the homepage is a bad thing for future Google Rankings on those pages.?

    Well, if you redirect those 2 popular indexed pages you will pass their ranking/link juice to the homepage.

    In trouble? No, as long the pages redirect to a page which offers relevant content.

    But to be honest, why mess with your pages. Be patient just let everything grow natural, your homepage will gain from it and your subpages too!
