I think you need to chill, Jack, and re-read my post. All I done was convey an argument I heard in a news report, before asking for Americans' opinions on it. I, personally, didn't say a word.

I don't think it's that simple. This has been a polarizing election for a lot of people and it's important to try and see things from everyone's point of view. Even if you don't agree with how they feel.

One employee in particular , an older black woman, stands out. She has seen the white race (my race) at its collective ugliest. She remembers the days of segregation and when Martin Luther King was killed. This has been an important election for her.

She truly believes that Obama is the best man for the job. Not because of his race but from what she has seen about him and his message. She also feels that if this fact is self evident to her then it must be equally obvious to everyone else. Therefore, any white person who doesn't vote for Obama must be doing so because they are racist.

Like I said, I don't agree with her reasoning but I can understand why she feels as she does. She and I will just have to agree to disagree on this one. :D

To get an idea of the kind of positive energy Obama is bringing check out this video.

Isn't it just a night and day choice in this election between fear & hope? We've had 8 years of fear. Let's choose hope this time.

Massive generalization mixed with generous doses of idiocy and ignorance is what such a statement by someone would hint to.

America has racists, but that doesn't make and will never make America a racist country. If it was racist, how come there are people of so many races living normal lives in America?

Then there is the fact that Obama is biracial. He is just as white as he is black.

People don't think sometimes. In Africa there is Black on Black genocide going on every day.

Agreed. People's politics are personal, and it is different for every individual, you certainly cannot separate it by race, age, or gender.

I am a little simpler than that...if you don't vote for my candidate, then you must be an idiot who only thinks that you understand what is going on, and you are voting for reasons smaller than the big picture.

Of course I am an opinionated loud mouth.

But seriously folks, everyone's right to vote is sacred and I respect that and the system more than any 1 candidate.

    <edited>
I should clarify. America is not racist in nature, there are just racists in it. Just as there are anti Semites, Atheist, Puritans, and so on.
There are , and always will be people who hate a group of others just on GP, and no one is safe from it. Fat people get it too, and it probably hurts just as bad.

Americans just have a superiority complex. That's all. Some people just can't feel good about themselves, unless they can feel like they are somehow better than others. Either race, religion, politics, sex, or economics.

That's not black on black genocide...that's African's Killing African's. Black on Black crime happens in Detroit, Chicago, and places in America.

Only in America are Blacks called "Blacks", or "African American", that terminology is not prevalent anywhere else in the world, and in Africa black people in America are not considered descendants, they are considered Black Americans, or to get deeper, unpure blood line.

The only thing today's African American's have in common with anyone in Africa is a similar skin color, with the exception of those that were lucky enough to trace what was left of a family tree back to modern day relatives.

People in Africa, and Blacks in America do not share anything anymore, and haven't for 400 years.

I may be little off topic but I can't find the date when the results will be declared. I know polling is tomorrow, but when will the world know who wins, date?
    Thanks.

Lol. As hard as you're stumping for this guy, I'm beginning to wonder if you're not Obama himself. ;)

Naah... note the seemingly religious belief that Obama can cure the economy, feed the masses on 12 loaves of bread, create world peace, and possibly raise the dead.

I'm guessing Zib's Oprah, she always refers to Obama as "The One".

We'll know tomorrow night. How early in the night depends on how close the election is. If it's not that close we'll know pretty early in the night.

No, I'm not Obama - I think he's a little too busy to be posting on this forum ;)

But I am one of the many Obama supporters who is involved in a campaign for the first time ever. I've always voted in the past - but this is the first time I've actually volunteered for a campaign (I've done calling and door to door two times each) and I'm volunteering to work for the campaign all day tomorrow.

I do not think Obama is a miracle man who will turn around America with a wave of his wand. That's pure silliness. What I do think is he is a remarkable man who will be a great President. In 2000 & 2004 I was mostly voting against George W. Bush. This time I'm voting for Barack Obama.

Go to VoteForChange.com to find your polling location. Take all of your friends & family & anyone else you know to vote for Obama tomorrow. Help us make history. End the Bush/McCain/Cheney stranglehold on our country. It's time for a real change.

Yes, it IS silly... In reality he's a blank slate a bunch of people are projecting their hopes and dreams onto in lieue of much track record to disprove it... but listening to the people in here that are behind him whether he's telling the truth or not (your own quotes are available if you have doubts) it's like watching a religious hardcore conversion stuff.

He isn't the Messiah (or "The One"), but he's been sold as such.

No he hasn't. The only people running with that storyline are people like yourself. People trying to invalidate his campaign. It won't work.

We just want to have a President we can be proud of again. It's been a long time.

    We've had enough of Bush/McCain/Cheney.

Good luck with him being a President you can be proud of. If he makes it into office I'll drop in and point out the events as he ignores his campaign rhetoric and raises taxes, tries to devalue the hell outta the second amendment etc. The non-gullible take him for what he is... just another Democrat politician. In this case one with very leftist leanings. If the DNC keeps both houses and gets the Marx brother in there it oughta be real interesting for the next few years.

#1 Thank you for the luck. America in general can use all the luck we can get.

    #2 I don't give a crap about the 2nd amendment.

#3 No one with any sense expects him to keep every campaign promise. No President has ever done that.

#4 I don't think he has very "leftist" leanings. At least not enough for my liking. I'm much more concerned about him being too centrist.

Neither does he, so you're in luck. It's always nice to know that the Democrats like to pick and choose which parts of the constitution they'll support.

He couldnt keep them without a wand... but those whose votes he bought with those promises might get a little testy if he asks for a second term without paying off.

He'd be the first real "centrist" with the most liberal voting record in the Senate. Forget the campaign rhetoric, look at his record.

McCain would have the same problem as far as his campaign promises. Politicians always promise more than they can deliver. It's part of the game.

That "most liberal voting record" thing is nothing but GOP propaganda. It's simply untrue, there are many far more liberal Senators (Feingold / Sanders) than Obama. Obama voted for FISA that proves he's not as liberal as he should be.

Oh man. What a sad, sad day. When people say they don't care about a document that was set up to protect us, we're screwed!

You do realize that the 2nd Amendment should be something that EVERY American should care about, not just hunters, rednecks, or whatever you seem to think. Do you even know the real reason behind the 2nd Amendment?

I want to be able to protect myself from government when people like you go and elect people who don't care about the Constitution....

So aside from the 2nd amendment, any other parts of the constitution that you're ok with disregarding?

Fun to get a glimpse into the minds of those that say they love America, but on examination dont even support the bill of rights.

Hearing Republicans who support George W. Bush & Dick Cheney talk about the constitution is pretty funny.
