Is it ok to remove all the meta tags?? since they don't care???

    Or It is still recommended??

Use the title tag, and description tag. Google uses those. The keywords tag Google doesnt use so for Google its useless.

Use Title to put your keywords. Title should start with your mainkeyword
    Description should start with keyword
    Keyword tag should have keywords

Nobody is sure if google is using keyword tag or not but its widely considered that google dont give weightage to it.

I have meta tags on my sites just for the heck of it, I really didn't think google paid anything atention to them, but when I was searching for something (I think it was biggrin.gif :p ) sure enough my site popped up and the description was using my description tag, so I found out it does use them, but not as much as the actual content.

Description is very important since it could well be the first snippet they see of your site so it has to pull them in. It has to be a pitch for dropping by. Title is extremely important. If you use PHP or similar, you could easily explode all title words and dump them in the keywords tag for good measure and for other SE's.

Hmm, I thought it was a certaintly that google doesn't use the keywords meta tag. I thought they even made a statement about this at one point - either way, it would be easy to run a test to see if they use it.

Nonetheless, I still add some keywords to my page just for good measure, but particularly for other SEs.

The description seems to be used for the snippet, but not for ranking purposes is my understanding.

erm, and the title tag isn't really a meta tag at all is it ?? In my opinion it is THE most important on-page factor, so take great care there :)

The description meta tag shows up as the description for a page on most search engines' SERPs. Although it does not help your rankings, it is an important marketing tool and should ideally be worded to satisfy the user's quest, which will entice them to click on your link rather than one of several others on the page. Google tends to use it if it doesn't find a block of text in the page content that contains the keyword phrase used in the search. You should therefore never skip this meta tag. As a marketing tool, it works together with the HTML title tag on SERPs.
