    Hey y'all

I'm having thoughts about starting a blog of my own but I don't know anything about this blogging thing. I read alot of blogs but I'm not sure if I could manage to take care of my own.
Are there any special blog-sites like blogger.com that are good to use if I'm a beginner?
I'm planning to add alot of photos and images to my blog, is that supported in all sorts of blogs/blogging/bloggers?
Like you can see, I dont know anything about this blogging-thing but I fully support it and I think it's a very usefull and smart thing.

    Any tips for a beginner?

    Thanks in advance.

Blogger.com and WordPress.com are both good places to start. Blogger.com allows a bit more flexibility if you want to change your template.

If you are thinking about a business blog-- you should integrate the blog on your business site. Search engines love blogs-- and the blog will help to promote your business.

Emily Robbins has a fantastic site about blogging. I'm trying to get my own site to be that resourceful but it is taking some time.

As far as basics go there are a few questions you should ask yourself before you get started such as do you have time to blog? And do you have enough material to blog about? Ideally, you should publish a minimum of once per week and have enough material to blog about so that you can keep the blog interesting and at the same time informative.

If you want to do a trial, you can do one of two things. You can set up a free blog at either Blogger or WordPress (preferred) or setup a blog on a subdomain of your website. Another thing you can do is write up a few posts (maybe 5-10) to get you started so that you are not opening up a bare blog. You could post two per week while you work on more posts and stay ahead that way.

Blogger is the easiest to use as far as posting video and pictures. It's been forever and a day since I used WordPress.com but if I remember correctly it was pretty easy to upload photos there as well. Like Q said the major drawback with WordPress.com is that you cannot easily change your template.

When you get your blog up and running you want to tell people its there. Post a link on your website to it, get it listed in directories, put a link to it here in your signature. When you visit other peoples blogs be sure to add your link when you leave comments. It takes time to gather up a readership so be patient. You can also join a traffic exchange site such as BlogExplosion or BlogAdvance and particpate in Blog Carnivals.

I've written a few articles about blogging. A lot of what I learned came from trial and error but also reading what others have to say.

Anyway hope that helps. Good luck.

i think SWN has not left any important thing about your question.

somthings i would like to add there are that you should go for your interest. Its important because if you go for some specific highpaying keyword which is not of your interest it may be difficult for you to start blogging. According to my experience it seems difficult to post initially but once you get use to blogging you can't live without.

Obviously it would be better to start with blogger but if you are having your own hosting plan then its better for you to go for Word Press at your own hosting. Because i dont like and rely on free services. I don't know from where you belong to but in some parts of world your blogger blog can be blocked any time for no reason (not specifically yours, all hosted at blogspot)

And yes finding themes of your choice for WP is never an easy job. You have to find one suitable from a very large list and you have to test many out of them. You will have to upload it and then it not difficult to apply it!

For me there's only one major distinction between blogger.com and wordpress.com : Blogger allows ads while wordpress doesn't. :)

Well the first question arises, why you want to own a blog, 1 . you want to earn money from it.

    2 Just for fun.

In the very first case if you want to own the blog for money, plz go ahead and go for wordpress. For more enquiries of how to make money from blogs, you can go to my seo-tool blog given in my link.

Now if you want to make a blog for personal use than go ahead with blogger and in the settings make it private, so that nobody can access your blog except very few people who have the authorisation.

I hope i made the things very clear to you..
