No, you can reg any word in your domain that you wish. You're domain reg company won't take it away from you just coz you've regged it. BTW, who said "Casino" names are illegal? There are heaps of online casinos that don't cater to the US market where it isn't illegal for online gambling.

The only risk is if some legal rep. contacts your hosting provider. Some of the providers shuts down without court orders :(

No, the registrars don't care. Neither do the hosting companies, by the way, unless you actually post illegal content on your illegal domain name site :). Though GoDaddy might try to rip you off on this premise :) - the bastards block your account and star spouting bull**** until you give in to their demands. So does 1and1. I found Namecheap to be quite reliable, don't know about Name.com.

Umm, you folks might want to read your registrars' agreements. While registrars don't
just shut down domain names, say, by virtue of their names themselves, they can do
so depending on: a) how they're being used, and b) if they arguably violate any TOS
terms or applicable laws within their jurisdiction.

In my ex-registrar life, we've done so in very, very, very few (and especially) extreme
cases like, say, phishing and those promoting material harm.

No problem at all for any domain name. Moreover, illegal word in domain name would make you website more interesting for visitor via Search Engine.

You have not problem in registration and hosting but you will likely be reported to company that regulate all domain registers like UDRP.
