So I'm planning to change all of a certain word I'm targeting into affiliate links so when people read the paragraph they'll see 10-20 links all on one word to sales page. I'm wondering if I make these into link will it have any negative affects? Like i'm worried it may affect the page rank since this is a keyword I'm targeting but making them all links.
i wouldn't flood the article/post or whatever your are doing with that keyword hyperlinked. 2 - 3 times is enough per article/post. Page Rank won't be affected. If i'm not mistaken.. You shouldn't use the targetted keyword anymore than 4 times in an article. ..or was it 4% of the article? Someone correct me on this please. But yeah, I use the keyword maximum 4 times in a 250-300 word article. Otherwise it may seem like spamming to the SE in trying to rank in that keyword.
Using keywords in anchor links is a great way to get our page to rank. I would not hyperlink every keyword as it really won't help that much at all. The page is still counted as only one back link. Shoot for a keyword density of around 7%
Back links from pages with high page rank is critical to SEO success. Page rank is extremely important for driving traffic. the more back links from high ranking sites = better search rankings for your page = more traffic.
Rubbish......while bank links are important for ranking a page, pagerank is not important for driving traffic. I have numerous number one listings on Google with sites that have only a page rank of 0-2. You keep chasing page rank and I'll keep chasing traffic........big difference.
To clarify my point... A site with a PR 0-2 still counts as a back link. You could have 100 back links from sites with 0-2 PR and 2 sites with a 4 and 5 PR and those two sites will do more for your SEO than those 100. To your point, does it IMMEDIATELY drive traffic? No. Can it help you rank for competitive keywords that can drive you a ton of traffic down the road, hell yes.
I still disagree with this statement however. All said and done though the more links you have incoming the better (generally) your site will rank so we agree on that. But back to the main question...who cares if changing the links on your page will affect your page rank, sites aren't listed in order of pagerank so why worry about it, there are far more important SEO factors that you should be worried about.
I agree that page rank in and of itself does not drive traffic and should not matter in terms of where your page ranks in SERPs. After rereading this thread I realized that i completely misunderstood the question
