It seems to me that SEO gets you a top spot but without strong PR you slip back slowly

Can someone verify my claim below? It's basically all I know about SEO, and I think it's a decent summary. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Let's say your targeting the keyword "chalk" for your new website.

So, in order to rank for the keyword "chalk" in SERPS top 10 you have to start with good onpage SEO (title, keyword density, content), which somewhat helps, but of course onpage SEO is just a factor of many factors.

Next, to increase your ranking in the SERPS, you get mass backlinks with "chalk" as the keyword link by itself. That way, you have tons of websites linking to your website with the keyword "chalk", so google ranks your website higher for "chalk". These backlinks lead to higher PR for your new website. Thus, SERP and PR is therefore related.

And, getting higher PR backlinks for "chalk" would be more important to google for SERP rankings since it's from a more authoritative site. You will rank better for the keyword "chalk" from these higher PR sites if they link to you. And, since you're getting higher PR backlinks, that'll cause your PR to increase. Thus, PR and SERPs are related, again.

If your site is solely targeting PR, you can have tons of sites with the incorrect anchor keyword and build it that way. If you choose to do this, then PR and SERP are unrelated.

I've been in the camp that "Toolbar PageRank is for entertainment purposes only". It's internal pr is that helps you to rank on your keyword. Internal pr is more than link popularity and includes an authority score as well.

But it pays to keep an open mind. I ran across a good article": "What the F are you doing on the “PR doesn’t matter bandwagon”?" It makes you think whether pr does really matter.

Oh, I agree it matters if your goal is to obtain free (organic) SERP position.

However if you are trying to generate real estate leads with organic SERP most will find it does not typically drive a target consumer where as Pay Per Click marketing will.

With PPC and other forms of search marketing PageRank does not matter.

And this is what many miss.....what I do, and what I think about PR matters only to me.......but ultimately my goal is to find what matters to the consumer and they are often oblivious to PageRank.

I have a couple thousand sales of products that easily prove the consumer had no thoughts or interest in PageRank. ;)

And then there is the issue where I have websites and blogs earning me money every month and they have little or no PR. So then this mutes the argument for many others as well.

Lastly with PageRank so easily bought, the metric then is diluted at to it's import or value.

    :)

There are also many back link tools that show you if you are getting not follow or do follow. Here is one I use that allows 50 results per keyword on the free version fast blog finder . It's a good tool, rep me if you got it ;).

Like I've said and someone else has said...It's possible to rank in 4 hours using the right sites and strategies...

Just before a big IM launch I created NEW BLOG, wrote about 13 posts in one day for it. (re-wrote some PLR and came up with 5 of my own or so...) then I wrote a "review" for the guru launch, made a big bonus package and had over 2,000 visitors the first day and also $230+ in commissions + added a nice bunch of people to my AR.

    Doing it again very soon...
