If I keep getting backlinks, when exactly my SERP will increase?

I mean, if I keep getting backlinks every day, my SERP will increase as the number of backlinks will get bigger or only after the next PR update?

    Thanks.

The "next PR update" is of no value. By the time the little green bar moves, Google has already been using that data in their SERPS for 3-6 months.

Google finds and indexes new links within 24-48 hours in most cases. If your site has been around a while and they're good links, you could see a little bit of movement almost immediately. However, many people feel that old links have more value, so it could take months before you get all of your value out of a new IBL.

SERPs is where you are at in Google Search engine and can vary from day to day and even search to search.. it's always chaning no matter what... PR is a more steady and long term factor, which basically measures how "awesome" your site is according to other people... PR 2 is ok to have and you can still rank #1, PR 3 is better, but PR doesn't have anything to do with where you rank as I've ranked sites with PR 0 ahead of PR 5 sites many, meny times just using correct linking strategies.

Keep getting backlinks. You will see increase in your site's site results rankings.

No one can tell you when this will happen. Just keep building backlinks and wait.

Most likely every day. However, the PR displayed in the toolbar is only updated every three months or so, and is usually 3-6 months old when it's posted.

you mean that your site could be indexed by google, but you cannot know that only after 3 months of the update?

It is a slow process to move up in rank if you have a new site. It will take months for the backlinks to help.t is a slow prosess to move up in rank if you have a new site. It will take months for the backlinks to help.

Actually Google finds links in a matter of minutes..

If there are doubts next time a large news story breaks Google it and see if sites reporting the story are at the top. (they will be I promise)

We saw this with the Myamar Cyclone and recent Earthquake in Japan.

This is also why link spamming works for mid level and low competition keywords.

However full scoring of those links will take a while and if Google finds artifical link building was used to boost SERPs... they will rip the rankings away and the site will be stuck in a hole for some time to come...

    :)

exactly. A new page I wrote a few days ago is #1 in google SERP today out of 15 million results. PR in the bar is 0. The PR is important, but not as important as the SERP :D

I think that PR relates to SERP, or influences better saying. Why is it not as much important as SERP?

Actually the PR you can see is a 0

PageRank is updated internally for Google Employees daily.

So you do have a PR its just a mystery for now what the # is.....

Also the competition level of the keyword matters more than page count .......15 millions pages could be reduced to 10,000 that have the same keyword together in the title ;)

    Is that an honest question?

PR is a statistic that may or may not influence how you rank.

SERP is your position right now, which translates into immediate traffic and $$ (or lack thereof).

    Quite a huge difference.
