If it is that significant of an idea, your marketing campaign should include a strong Public Relations effort which includes press releases, story pitches to the media, briefings for analysts, etc. It is a lot of work, but if it is a "big picture" new product/service a PR campaign will pay great dividends. Be sure to slant your PR efforts in terms of why it is "news" as opposed to why it is great and you will be on the right path.

I'd imagine we are talking about innovative things that are not so well established to immediately jump on press releases and media coverage, otherwise they will already have some following and you would just be looking to increase that. If that is the case then you are practically limitless in the communication channels you use. You can write informative and interesting articles about the product/service and promote them in related blogs and news sites. Finding forums that cover your industry will certainly be a boost and there are a lot of people that can be directly interested. You can also add social media to the mix and really get the word going. This is speaking really general. Depending on what exactly you have in mind, the efficiency of the different channels will change. ;)

Whatever it is, make sure you trademark it as yours so no one can steal your idea. You can then start blogging about it. You can scale it based on the feedback you receive.

If you have a well developed idea (project) you probably try to submit it to kickstarter . com You will see if it worth anything. Forum discussion will also be a form of promotion and opinion research.

This is exactly what I want my business to be about. Helping people get their ideas out into the world through content marketing.

Check out this article: https://blog.kissmetrics.com/how-mint-grew/. It details what Mint did to get noticed and stand out above their competitors. Much of it was due to their content marketing strategy, but also the amazing amount of PR work they did.

I think it will help you out a lot.

And the best thing you can do to promote your idea?

Take action. Right now. Create a website. Start a blog. Start guest posting.

Get the word out as soon as possible.

    Good luck!

I will highly suggest on content marketing strategies with greater social media integration. If you think your idea could be monetized, share your great ideas within crowd-funding platforms such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Crowdfunder.com and many more.
