If I find an expired PR5 domain should I be skeptical?

I have found what appears to be a PR5 domani that has expired. I have checked it using the Dig Page Rank Tool and it's PR5 in all the main datacenters.

However I do not find any links to it on any of the search engines. Should I worry about this or just register the domain?

    Could it have been blacklisted?

I hear there are ways to fake PR, could this be the case?

If it doesnt appear in the SEs for its own domain what is the likelyhod that it is getting any traffic?

    Thanks

If the PR is indeed real and you get the domain, then I think you should develop it and build some good quality incoming links to it for the PR to sustain.

Even if it is blacklisted. Drop a note to Google and tell them you are the new owner and all black hat SEO work has stoped. THey will check your registration and remove the Blacklisting.

Well both the tools shown above have told me that the PR is fake :(

I guess that's why it was left to expire...

    What for?
Whatever pagerank displayed on expired domains is as ephemeral as your illusion of profit from them as for 'art of magic'.
Even if you work hard to quickly develop a quality content site, you will receive a Google's slap because the domain expired and the fact will be reflected in the next dance

Because he's wondering if it's fake or not.
