If i don't update my blog but keep on building links will it work?

I'm ranking for few keywords in Google and i get a consistent traffic even without adding new posts.But I'm not sure for how long i'll keep on getting traffic without updating my blog content.
If i just build links for my old posts can i maintain the traffic.Please answer
