If I delete my site and start new what will happen?

I had a site for 4 years and now decide to change script to add more funcionality. Obviously all old links are dead or at least most... What will happen as a result of this? Do I have to notify Google or should I just wait for the bots to come? Also is there any sort of penalisation?

Please note the content is similar if not the same but it just has added features and sections... Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

No you wont get penalized, but you could also create an account in google webmaster. In your account you will have a section that contains all links google didnt find. You will then be able to manually delete those link from google bot

that is actually a good thing. Updating content, even complete rebuilding is something good in Google's eyes. Means you're keeping up with the times.

You're like me. I wait about half the year to do a simple thing like clean the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.
