Would this be frowned upon, and if so.. why?

    I think this is ok.
    So many people do that.
So many CMS and others have same templates.

Aye that's true Wally, I didn't think of all those using standard CMS's.

    Cheers!

I won't frown upon it but why not make them different for the fun of it? Let your creativity runs ;)

    It's the content that matters.

But why not change the colours and maybe images and keep the layout?

I intend to change the colours and images he he. Good stuff.. I thought I'd get slammed by the AdSense police for entertaining the notion.

I'll crack on writing the content for them then. ;)

Creativity was put on hold a long time ago - I'll let that go hod wild once I have the money to kick back and relax lol.

AdSense cares about content, not layout, so I believe you're safe from the police ;)

If done well, your sites can look like they belong to one network which has trademark design and layout. That'll be nice.

Think of how many blogger blogs and WP default themes their are, like everybody else is saying content is king in this case.

I agree with battra. A nice original layout used throughout your related sites with slight color changes can look very cohesive and professional.
