maybe because alot of people post acting like they know an answer for sure, but they are irresponsibly pretending that they have inside information or have read a specific comment directly from google
canam & koothichi: Thank you for supporting my view that you can't simply change your hosts. I'm not a Guru but I had suffered the consequences for not checking the integrity of the hosting provider about six months ago. Attracted by their cheap hosting fee, I changed the host. After that my traffic (money too) decreased and PRs of my sites decreased too. I checked around and was told that the host had been blacklisted for various reasons. After a change for better hosting services, everything was improving. Can anybody dispute that it is not wise to change host without checking? One of my blogs is still with them because I was unable to backup my blog (about 250 posts) since their servers were not responding to backup procedures and they had ignored my requests for assistance. I can't terminate the blog since many of its pages are getting good traffic.
Google may not punish it but may rank it differently. One thing you need to look at is the IP that the new host has and whether it is in a different country to your current host.
I did chnage the host some days before the last pr update and i didnt see any changes at all, same serps.
"ranking differently" or "punishment" are basically semantics.... anytime google ranks you lower for one reason or another is a form of punishment, and there are many times google does that in a very very unfair manner
There should be no influence, but I got one site dropped from PR3=>0 after changing the host. Poor me~
You’ll affectively be put back in the sand bank if your ip changes. It’s like de-aging your site. All of your links should carry on counting, but you won’t have the 'site-age' bonus you had before Google like, old stable sites (for example, University sites)
No you won't be punished but as previously mentioned choose your new host wisely. If your site lands in the wrong neighborhood as such it can most definitely have an affect on your rankings. Also if you are using a .com domain what country you are hosting in will determine where you rank the strongest.
I dont thing that is going to hurt your rankings I just changed my host for 6 sites from maddog to hostgator and nothing changed
no harm, make sure you upload current site first on new server and then change name server, so there would be no down time.
