Why would you want to change in the first place? wordpress is great. Yes, it can cause some problems.

it will not affect your seo if you use 301 redirection for your old blogpost to new blogpost even if urls are changed

    IT WILL MESS YOU UP!

The URLS you have now are your authority, changing them will result in a loss of power and rank!

I would have to agree with gotlinks. This can totally screw things up. I have done a few 301's in my day as well with absolutely hideous results. MSN and Yahoo sorted out my 301 in a matter of days. Google, on the other hand, does not handle these too well sometimes. Which sort of blows since that is who I got my 301 instructions from. And yeah, wordpress rocks!

    hope that helps

Is there really a need to change our script? Doing all those 301s will help but I think it is a waste of time and effort.

Apart the fact if you need or you don't need to change script, changing the URL structure will effect your SERPs, tho it can be resolved with 301 redirect (but don't expect the results to be immediate).

Those pages will lose authority and will be considered as a new page by the search engines. But as I said, if you are not short on time for organic traffic than 301 redirect will (kinda) fix things. Even tho the structure of the code if will have changed might have impact on your rankings (to a certain degree).

Well I will actually be using a much more complicated cms and it will have many other things involved like forums, directory, article directory, etc etc things that wordpress cannot do unless it is integrated with multiple scripts

It would be a total mess up man.... most specially with the URL scripts... it would affect your pages. Yes it could be resolved by 301 redirect but are you going to do that in all your pages? The pages you got linked to and linked with would be affected... wordpress is great...

What script are you changing to? Your best solution is to 301 rewrite your NEW script so it uses your old URLs. Then the forum, link directory etc can start off normally using the default URLs.

This backward rewrite is the opposite to what everyone else suggested but i feel it will work best.
