I'm not too familiar with adsense, but my friends have used them.. I was wondering how can adsense even find out if you get your friend to click on it??

If you ask people to click on your ads you will be found out by google. If you think that you can outsmart google by getting all your friends to do a click a day for you, your account will be banned or yuo will get to payout and they will close it then. Just wait for real visitors to come to your site and if they like an ad they will click it.

Yes you can and you probably will.. just ask yourself the following question:
is it fair that people get charged because you want to earn more money?
Just realize that those ads are paid by people that want to advertise their website not have people click a few times and leave.. that's robbery.

Why do newbies to Adsense always start off with some high paying niche? Chances are, you'll get banned easier and almost all the content is not unique.

No kidding! Well, most of them get in just for the "make money" aspect and try to retire in the first two weeks. Doesn't make for a good game plan :(

That's because everyone can get rich quick without actually doing anything. I learned this from the talking horse standing next to the 50 foot blossoming money tree :D

I really wouldn't suggest it. I really wouldn't suggest including your link in a post such as this to "fish" for clicks. This is what I mean:

Boo hoo, I never get clicks. "Check out my ads" on my blog and see if my targeting has made them worthy of clicking.

Well if the same ip clicks 3 ads a day on your page, Google can pick up on that. I mean, if you called your friend up and asked him/her to click on maybe one or two ads every three months then really google couldn't really prove it. But if you made a post on DP for example saying: Dear friend, please click on my ads...
The you'll be in deep water in time.

There are two main issues in asking your friends to help:
Google could find out if you posted it on the Internet
Your friend could get extra "helpful" and click on 30 ads

And when Google bans you, you can't just say, "I didn't know."
It's your job to read Google TOS
