If Hillary is elected, should women register for the draft?

I think if Hillary is elected, we should modify the rules so all women should have to register for selective service. I mean... Hillary would then be commander in chief, right?

    What do you think? :D

Good question you bring up, I would agree with you.

I also think the role women play in society should also be modified (if it continues in this direction), to make them equal to men. For instance, it being fair game to punch women.

LMAO! Oh man... yeah, I don't know about you, but I've noticed some double standards with some women out there.

Yep. It is against the law to hit people regardless of their sex. Sorry to be the first to let you know.

That's funny, in the dojo I used to go to, we hit each other every night. And 75% of the members were policemen.

Yes, a person (male or female) can consent to some level of battery.

But there is no distinction between males and females. They are both free to play in the dojo with you. It is only your fear of fighting a woman that would prevent that, nothing in the law.

Thanks for the input, but I never made any reference to laws. I only mentioned society.

You specifically asked about the law. You are just embarrassing yourself.

Depending on how technical savvy you are, I may not be as embarrassed as yourself. When I first made my comment it hadn't pertained to the law, then iul made the comment that it was against the law to punch. I followed, stating I didn't know it was against the law to punch someone.

You made the jump that punch meant battery. Get with it.

Whatever. I only responded AFTER you asked about the law.

You can't even admit you goofed, and had mentioned the law, when it is right there for everyone to see. I guess you would rather foolishly rationalize than just admit you goofed and didn't realize it was YOU who introduced the law aspect.

haha I will admit, I should have stated that I made no reference to the law in the BEGINNING of the thread.

Yes, I only jumped in the middle after the law issue was out there. I see why you got mixed up.

Anyway, getting back on track, IMO the president is actually external to the military, the political, elected, the people's representative chief of the military.

But I can't see that happening yet, although she never dies, as the democratic campaign is proving so well!

Why do we never talk about the morality of a draft?

For instance, why must only the young people go? Can't middle age adults fulfill support roles?

And if you are a pacifist or have some other aversion to violence/war, then by what authority can the state put you in a life and death scenario? Does the government own you? Or do you have the right of self-determination?

This is an important question, because if the government can order you to fight in a potentially lethal situation, is there anything they can't force you to do?

IMO, the only good thing about a draft is, once middle and upper middle class kids start going, their parents get politically active, and the war will end based on pressure from the domestic side.

As we know today, Vietnam was started over a false flag, and was basically a bogus war. There was a draft, and a lot of drafted Americans died in that bogus war. The Rudy Giulianis, Fred Thompsons and Mitt Romneys somehow found a way to get a draft deferment. Just like Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz. (surprise, surprise, the biggest chickenhawks have never carried a rifle).

Somehow, tomorrow's scumbags evade the draft, while many conscientious objectors must kill or be killed.

I agree that it should be left to professionals, since a smaller army of pros works much better and with typically a lower death rate.

Nevertheless the government doesn't own you, but you are part of the society, and as such, you should respect whatever the law and the authorities, or move to a place you like better.

If that's what they decide, you have to accept it.

Obviously the laws can be changed and should be updated and improved all the time.

Anyway Hillary as a commander in chief scares too many for it to be made possible.

If we take a majority vote, do we have the right to execute you? Torture you? Starve you?

So if by majority vote, your fellow citizens decide you should be tied to a post in the town square and sodomized 24 hours a day, you're ok with that?

Is that what it means to be a part of society? That others have a greater claim on you and your life than you do?
