thats a good question but here is my thing , I do not rely on search engines for traffic there is to many hoops and hurdles to get to and maintain a high search visibility. I believe if you work hard at promoting yourself and generating your own traffic you will do just fine. since time is really the essence of seo and how long you will actually hold your place in the search engines then why bother focusing on them at all. With all the tools the net provides for us fb twit pinterest and more social areas DIGITAL POINT you can generate significant traffic. just because you rank high in a search engine does not guarantee you that you will have a true viewer that will go through your site. so in my doings i leave a stamp online for everything i do and rely on word of mouth and links and free promotional informative products and reading materials like ebooks to distribute my sites. and if in the future i get ranked in a search engine then thats a bonus if not oh well i still have enough traffic and am branded online so if there is anything that changes with google for example like panda release then i wont be affected.
If you build a relations=hip with your viewers and provide them with a good site and content you will see traffic no mater what method you use content is king in all apects and if you forget that for the reasons of a search engine then you will likely be disappointed down the line . rely on yourself not technology

Here's perfectly right, little point in this topic since for most Google does not exist already... it's just a website.

For your info, Google traffic is only 4% of the entire Internet Traffic.
It is not as big as what we thought of.

There are plenty of traffic sources such as Paid Traffic, email traffic, social media, etc..

Man that's a tough one... Guess we'd spend a lot more time on sites like Youtube and Yahoo would probably be our main search engine; them and their extremely distracting platform.

I hear a lot of people say all big empires fall.. True but no empire has had personal data and information on a huge majority of the world.

Google is an empire that obviously knows how to use that data because they are still around running.

Not to mention, they can make changes that change the internet over night.

Yes all empires fall eventually but Google is an empire like no other empire in history.

If Google falls, another search engine will rise up, that is the nature of business. Maybe another one might not get as large as Google, but that would be a good thing!

If Google never exist, the world should be quite different.
Unemployment rate should be higher. There maybe no youtube and certainly SEO is less important.
