heres just a thought i was pondering on for a while
If everyone believed in karma, would karma therefore be true because everyone would do good to escape retribution? Therefore karma would be working?

Just btw i'm an atheist, so... :)

It doesn't matter if people believe in Karma or not, it is true if it is true.. That's like "If everybody believed in God would there be one?"

It doesn't matter if they believe or not, if a god exists it is real with or without their belief.

I think what he means is would the act of believing it cause the same outcome as if it were true.

yeah, i mean if everyone believed it, the same effect would happen as if it were true. Therefore it would be true in its own right? Sorry if i'm being a bit confusing.

If everyone believes in Karma they will have the same point of view about things like everyone else and for them it makes Karma to be true.

truth isn't relative. it's absolute. There can't be a truth "for them". Something is either true or it isn't, and it's the same for everyone.

As for the thread, no it wouldn't make karma true, it would just cause the same outcome as what we would expect to see if karma were true.

Is every decision a democratic country makes right? I doubt it! Religious ideas don't just work because of majority vote!

Karma refers to the law of cause and effect. Before the mystics got ahold of it, it really was quite simple.

Spend a life eating junk food and your karma is to have clogged arteries and heart disease. Spend a life engaged in promiscuous sexual activity, and your karma is STD and HIV.

karma reflects both our inescapable freedom and our absolute responsibility...

First of all what is karma...to me it's a meaningless word. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that we all live in a controlled universe. Nothing exist by chance... anyway you have to be spiritual to understand.

Yeah, it is amazing how simple good living is isn't it?

We try to complicate things with "isms" and what not...It's all deception, that comes with a heavy karmic burden.

We all know what is right and what is wrong, we try to make excuses for it though.

Live well and with a light, happy heart and existence is yours.

Actually, illusion, which is a less emotionally laden term. Maya is the proper term. "Maya is the limited, purely physical and mental reality in which our everyday consciousness has become entangled. Maya is held to be an illusion..."

karma simply means what is stored in your memory which is also called the sub conscious, this memory is never erased and like magnets similar memory vibrations attract each other, this is the begining of the law of cause and effect.

Forget about karma, if one is not doing a good job at work , he will probably loose his job , so the concept of karma is somewhat true.

I wouldn't like to think of it as a magical power, but really as a cause and effect, I don't believe that if you slap someone in their face, you will get a slap back just for that reason.

You can not murder someone and no one know. You know. You live with it, and with the consequences of that knowledge. There is an entire chain of cause and effect that comes with that knowledge and living the lie that goes with keeping that knowledge secret.

If you are callous enough to not be effected by your deed and your knowledge (some are) then there is an entire chain of cause and effect that accompanies that callousness - one that will probably be most apparent in your relationships, or lack thereof...
