If downloading movies is so illegal then how are the sites still up and running?

Here is the issue, the copyright office and federal government cannot go after everyone who does stuff illegal you have a lot of countries that the united states will NOT go into or get involved with. however i have noticed what they will do is either have search engine providers "block" the site or they just block the movie in your country from showing.

All websites that have movies for public display even thou they are not making revenue off the movie or site is still breaking international copyright laws and regulations. especially if its movies that just came out into the theaters and you got some noob using a handheld to film it.

Music is a bit different you can have music and download music it just depends if its under the "creative commons license" there is websites you can check copyright and see if its legal to keep on your machine and distribute to everyone on the internet, also the RIAA has a section of websites they have listed as "SAFE" so you can download music and share them legally.

Some of these 3rd world countries and also other countries do not have the same views as the united states or the united kingdom so our copyright laws and regulations are a bit over the top.

 

You are write but some sites has a license of download movies....like moviewatchlist.com

If you want download free movies to use torrent sites. But is pirated way. Pay some money and watch HD quality movies.
